Recommend your favorite Nintendo DS game

OK,
I just recently bought a Nintendo DS to keep myself occupied during long plane rides, etc.

I bought two video games with it:

Brain Academy

and

Brain Age 2

Both are designed to make your brain sharper. The premise of Brain Age is that you can get an assessment of your Brain's age (the optimal Brain Age is '20 years old'), and you play at least one daily puzzle a day (only takes a few minutes) until you decrease your brain's age to as close to the 20 year old mark as possible.

My brain age is 65!!!! SIXTY FUCKING FIVE!!! lol falloff falloff falloff

The other Brain game (Brain Academy operates along the same premises but it's games are a bit different--both are really fun to play).

HOWEVER, I'd like to play something more traditional for a gaming lines. I saw that there is an RTS game that for Ages of Empires with a Mythology theme , much like Ages of Mythology, but because I love Ages of Mythology (the real PC game) so much, I'll end up hating a stripped down personal console version.

So, being that I'm more or less new to portable gameplay, do you have any recommendations?

Remember: It needs to be a title for the DS LITE---I don't have the patience or will power to go get anything else at this time.

New Super Mario Brothers is definitely a great pic.

If you like RPGs, you should get Final Fantasy IV.

*sees thread*
*thinks before clicking on it...how long until somebody posts mario or zelda something*
*clicks thread*
*is proven correct*

What im trying to say is to avoid mario DS and Zelda DS. They are DUMBED down games serving a market that cant understand games. I suggest if you want to play Mario or Zelda, find a copy of:

or:

or:

until nintendo bring out iterations of these franchises that will last longer than 6 hours, play the GBA games.

Now back on-topic:

If you need Mario DS, get -Mario Kart DS.

here's my list of recommendations:

- Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow (best of the lot)

- Advance Wars: Dual Strike (turn based warfare!)

- The World Ends With You (Square-enix fix)

- Elite Beat Agents (really fun music game)

- Tetris DS (classic)

- Contra 4 (the hardest game on DS, prove me wrong fuckers!!!)

- Phoenix Wright (ANY of the games in this series holy shit so fun!!)

biggrin biggrin biggrin biggrin biggrin

Dan, in order to make a brain sharper, you don't need a Nintendo DS. You need a brain to begin with.

Seriously. That statement just makes no sense. Do you even understand where Mario comes from? Fucking Donkey Kong. Even Super Mario Brothers, arguably one of the most important games ever was a simple side scroller. How is New SMB dumbed down from that?

The easiest way to put is play either of the two mario's i posted on GBA, then go play NSMB. You will see a huge difference. Nintendo HAS dumbed down their biggest titles to appeal to a different audience.

Myself and my friends finished both Mario and Zelda DS in well under 10hrs.

The classics i posted take ALLOT longer with ALLOT more content to seek out and do.

Im just saying if he wants a long adventure steer clear of those mcMario mcmass market fests...
