Smoking

hey, I didn't smoke since monday night 10 pm. In one hour and half it's 3 days without smoking.

It's the first time I manage so long without a ciggie, I don't use patches or anything.

I smoke for 21 long years, and I don't realize that I almost quit.

My point is : I didn't smoke my last cigarette, but I am waiting until I smoke next one.

Please tell me your stories !!!! wink

I quite cold turkey back in 99.

I only smoked from the age of 19 so it wasn't more than a decade.

I smoked Clove Cigarettes mostly cause I liked the taste and smoothness of them.

But one day I just decided they were a waste time. I quite cold turkey, was irritable for about a week, then after that never looked back.

Today, I can put a cigarette in my mouth, have a few puffs and put it back down thoroughly disgusted at the flavor and how it makes my clothes smell.

Smoking has become over the years a detracting feature to me. I find it to be very unattractive now when I used to not factor that in.

I smoked for 20 years, then I got cancer so I quit. If you don't stop them, they will stop you. The end. confused

I smoked for a small period of time...then quit...I felt it was a waste of my time. Plus smoking jacks with your mouth, and your skin.

I quit last year for three months but started again. one here one there then a pack then another then back into active addiction. as of right now I am 8 days smober(aka quit smoking ciggies) cuz I decided this time I really need to quit. I smoked my last pack down to the last cig 2 wednesdays days ago and for now I try to take it one day at a time. but boy I tell it's been tough. I gotta remember its not worth it to pay money daily to kill myself.

i smoked when i was sixteen. in part because school was stressing and because i wanted my voice to get deeper. I have a very clear almost 8 year old girl voice(that was said by a friend of mines). I had to stop because instead of making me feel relaxed it agitated me. i guess the stimulant in the tobacco. also because my mother caught me and my friend smoking. he did not get in trouble because he ate his cig. it was hard at first. but i am glad your quitting! once the first week is over the rest will follow smoothly. may i add that relaxing techniques such as knitting, meditation, drawing, writing can help you de stress yourself.

My husband smokes when he gets stressed out...which is about every month sad He's tried to quit many times and as soon as we have financial or job issues he's back to smoking again. I want him to find another outlet for dealing with the stress...but he works and hangs out with people who smoke so it's constantly in his face. He used to have bright white teeth and a great voice...I miss it sad

I've smoked for the past 25 years. It's only on a very rare occasion that I smoke more than a pack a day, usually when I'm drinking which I don't do too much of anymore. I can go for days without craving one, then there are some days when I'd walk ten miles to have just one. Never really thought seriously of quitting though.

Another week and I'll be 4 months smoke-free.

woot!

I honestly never thought I'd really be able to quit. I'm very pleased with where I'm at. It's the longest I've ever gone without smoking for 16 years.

It's ironic, but the one time that I truly thought I'd kicked the habit was when I deployed to Iraq in 2004...we drove from Kuwait, on the main supply route, through to Baghdad....3 of the longest days in my life, but I didn't spark up once....drank the hell out of some , but no smokes....then I spent the next 11 months ducking mortar/artillery fire (randomly off target, since our "hosts" couldn't shoot straight) and pretty frequent small arms fire, while caring for and supervising a crew of 25....but no smokes....

....then I went home, and I guess all the emotions and stuff I supressed in the war zone flooded back big time.....so I picked the habit back up....shrug

its an ongoing struggle.....

I smoked for about 4 years. Back during the first week of 2000, I got extremely f'ed up one night. At about 7 in the morning, I smoked a hand-rolled cigarette with my friend then went home and fell asleep. I woke up about 2 hours later with the worst taste in my mouth. I said to myself that I would hold off on buying a new pack of smokes until I was able to rid my mouth of the taste of raw ass. I ended up never smoking another cigarette.

i do smoke since around 13 years now, reduced them to 4 to 8 a day.....

i do not feel any pressure in me to quit, but my conscience tells me lots of time...
i don't want to glorify it, i just like to smoke...and hopefully dislike it one day...before it's to late....
my last girlfriend did not smoke and it was great because i really smoked less because of her...

I smoked for about 10 years, through my last 2 years of high school,
college and for a few years beyond...then when I got pregnant, I quit
cold turkey...when our daughter turned 2, I fell back into it for about
six months, then quit again. I didn't want her to grow up with a
'smoking' mom, especially since my husband never smoked.

Anyway, I did something right, because she doesn't smoke...so hopefully
she'll have a longer healthier life for it..but I've never had a problem with others
smoking, if that's their choice....nobody's going to quit anyway, unless it's
their choice to do so.
