WAL-MART CULTURE SHOCK! ! ! ! ! !

I don't do much shopping, although I would love to have enough to hang out at the mall for a while, I just can't run the streets like i used to.

However, I decided after having visited my dad i would stop by wal-mart to get a few things for sandwiches.
omfg is everyone in there crazy or what! ! ! ! ! I felt like the only sane person in there.....and maybe that's bad. shrug but i was like...omfg what is wrong with people! ! ! ! ! ! hmm lurking

I think anyone who'd buy food at Walmart is crazy.

The Wal-Mart in the town right outside the base I'm on always feels like a madhouse...and its scary to note just how badly the teaching and learning of manners has slipped in homes across this country....

Not all of us are rich. Some of us like to pay better prices for the same food, so we can exist, or even manage to save a little. smile

Because in any Walmart I've been in (that carries food), the produce looks terrible. And you just know that meat came from feedlot animals.

I suppose Walmart cheaper than the alternatives if you eat a lot of prepared or packaged foods. I don't. I buy the raw materials and prepare my own. And my feeling is that, if the ingredients are suspect, the finished product will be suspect.

I despise WalMart. I think they don't care about the customer service, nor do they treat their employees right. I know several people that have worked there and they all had issues.

Walmart is always packed (even at 2am) with a bunch of people. Now, I'm not going to say all Walmarts are ghetto, but a lot of them are.

Give me Target any day.

Can I ask a question...why do so many people bitch about Walmart? It's to the point it's just down right annoying. I am not one to complain, or voice my opinion to much on this site...but Wow! I know, I didn't have to read this thread...but I just feel if you don't like Walmart then just let it go, and shop or go some place else.

I avoid Walmart like the plague on weeknights and weekends in the daytime. It's not so bad otherwise. I do buy groceries there from time to time, when I'm crunched for time, and haven't had any real problems with it. I do prefer to buy meat & produce from my local grocery store but it is a lot more expensive and a lot more time consuming to do that.

I have a friend that has been working at Walmart for a long time. She had some complaints about the way she was treated. But I also know my friend can have a stank ass attitude and calls in sick a lot. Who's to say whether she is really being mistreated.

When I say issues, I don't mean mental. They have issues with the company. They treat their employees like slaves and pay them horrible wages. The only people that get paid pretty decently are the managers. Everyone else's pay is right at mininum wage.

Not all of them. When I go to small towns, the stores are well kept and organized. When I go to one in an Urban area, (most times) it is ghetto fabulous.

I am not going to go into a lengthy response to this, but you are wrong concerning the wages. I only know this because my children's Father is a Market Human Resource manager for this very company. Like I said...when an ex-employee has an issue with a company, you never get the WHOLE story of what actually went wrong. The said employee could have broken rules, didn't follow policy etc. Like I said...don't like the company then don't go to said company. And before you speak about a company, get all your facts. Just saying....

I'm speaking of people that work for the stores (retail side), not from the corporate side. I know a couple of people that work on the corporate side of WalMart and they are very satisfied with the company. I also know several people that work on the retail side (currently) and they tell me stories of how the company is run from the retail side. They don't paint a pretty picture.

I understand that there are 3 different sides to a story, but when multiple people say the same thing, there has to be some truth in it.

Once again...Market HR...means he deals with normal employees and their issues. Including hiring, firing, wages etc.... He is in a 'retail' store everyday, these corporate 'guys' you speak of, are in stores daily! Home offices are in a regular Walmart. Like I say...know your facts....
