your favourite tea?

Absolutely everything made by Mighty Leaf is amazing, but right now I'm loving the Chamomile Citrus. cloud9

Also, Twining's makes a really excellent English Breakfast if you just want something plain. nod

How 'bout you?

I've been a bit of a tea snob lately. This is my current favorite:
(click the links to see the pictures)
http://www.teavana.com/Th...ck-Tea.axd

"This exquisite tea originates from the pristine hills of Nepal, at the foot of the majestic Himalayan Mountains, at a 6000 ft elevation. The beautiful, tippy leaf yields a coppery-orange brew that is rich and complex in flavor. Excellent hot or extraordinary as an iced tea, it will quickly become the most beloved addition to your black tea collection. "

Is is nirvana in a cup. I actually exclaimed aloud "YUMMMMM!" the first time I had a sip. It makes me infinitely happy to begin my days with this.

And I've got some of this too:

http://www.teavana.com/Th...ck-Tea.axd

It's funny looking. giggle It's yummy, but not quite as good as the other.

I love Mighty Leaf teas too!

I love pearl teas! drool

It can be hard to get a really good kind though. I don't remember the brand now, but I used to have some really nice jasmine "pearls". Even making one cup would make the whole house smell like flowers. love

You'd probably dig this brand, Carrie

www.teadesire.com

I recommend "Herbs and Witches". It's orange peel, fennel, nettle, melissa, lemongrass, and sunflower petals. Heaven. smile

Unfortunately, they're a new company still so their website doesn't amount to much. Can't order online yet, but I've been told they have plans to make that available soon.

I have a roasted green tea that has dried basmati rice in it. It's really good, but it does leave one with the feeling of just having eaten vegetarian sushi. razz

The best plain green tea I have ever had was in this grungy lil' "Chinese style" buffet restaurant back in Kelowna. I'll go there even when I'm not hungry just to have their tea.

Does anyone here try to pair their tea to their food, the way types of wine are paired with food?

Some teas I prefer by themselves, like a darjeeling. Otherwise, I like black teas with baked sweets.

I had this great white tea once that I positively LOVED to have with just a splash of milk and then I'd dip ginger snaps in it. After a couple of snaps the tea was a perfect milky sweet spicy ginger heaven.

That sounds so good.

I find teas with really distinctive flavours are usually best by themselves. Traditional black english teas go well with sweet or really savoury foods.

I have an aunt who likes to put small scoops of real vanilla ice cream in hot raspberry tea. It does curdle a bit, but it tastes amazing.

Aveda's Comforting Tea. Caffeine-free and made with licorice root and peppermint, neither of which are flavors I like on their own, but dammit that tea is addictive like liquid crack. It's expensive, though, too -- $24 US for a 4 oz container.

Ottensen

I drink mostly loose tea. Lots of Sencha from Japan (it's a vibrant green and incredibly mild), and then sometimes Chinese Oolong.

When I'm sick, I make tea from linden leaves & flowers, so it can cause me to sweat, break fevers, and rid my body of toxins. The leaves and flowers are mildly sweet, so no honey is needed.

For bagged tea, in my pantry I keep standard German favorites, like chamomile, peppermint, and hibiscus.

Otherwise I like to sip on white tea with ginger inside, or a ginko-lemongrass hybrid.
