I made this tonight. I advise you to do the same.

7 cups water
2 cups strong hot tea
12 oz frozen orange juice concentrate
24 oz frozen lemonade concentrate
3 cups to 1 fifth of whiskey
2 cups sugar

Melt the frozen stuff and mix it up in a gallon container. Put it in the freezer. Start your holiday buzz under the guise of a festive slush!

I've never had one of those. IT sounds AWESOME!

Heres a recipe. Im not sure if its the exact same as my aunt's.

1 1/2 cup sugar
4 tablespoons flour
1/2 cup butter, melted and cooled
3 eggs, beaten
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla
dash of nutmeg (optional)
unbaked 9-inch pie shell

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Mix sugar and flour together until fine. Add cooled butter, beaten eggs, buttermilk, vanilla, and nutmeg if desired. Mix and pour into pie shell. Bake 10 minutes at 425 degrees F.; turn temperature down to 350 degrees F. and continue to bake until the pie sets, about 40 minutes. Cool on rack; do not cut while hot.

I am absolutely going to try this recipe this Christmas! Say a prayer, though, I can barely prepare cold cereal. lol

Thanks so much!

Okay, this doesn't exactly qualify as a dessert, pudding or cookies, but I looooove cranberry/orange relish:

My sister-in-law makes this every Thanksgiving, and it is sooooo good! drool Very refreshing and tasty. Love, love, love this stuff!
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

OMG, how could I forget trifle?

drool This dessert is very, very good! My sister-in-law has a son; his girlfriend made it. It was different than the one in the picture though. This one had pumpkin bread in it. I have to get this recipe from my mom; I think it would be relatively simple to make. What's nice about it is that you can put a variety of different things in it, and not just fruit or bread. Everybody loved it, and it went quickly!
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

When I was a little girl a close friend of the family would have me over for baking day. She'd make, like, 12 different kinds of cookies and let me help with everything. My favorite part was she'd always let me lick the bowl and always let me sample anything I wanted fresh from the oven. It's from then that I remember falling in love with anything with almond extract in it. To this day that is one of my favorite smells on the planet.

These days, I get excited for my friend Darin to make cookies. redface He usually sends me home with a small box at some point during the holiday season. He's only making a couple of different kinds this year, but one of them has that yummy almond thing going and so those are my favorite, favorite cookies.

These are good to make ahead and freeze - they are better after thawing for some reason anyway lol and super easy too

I am making 4 loaves today biggrin

PISTACHIO NUT BREAD

1 Duncan Hines yellow cake mix
1 instant pistachio pudding mix
4 eggs
1/4 c. vegetable oil
1/2 c. water
1 c. sour cream

SUGAR STREUSEL MIX:

1 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Sugar Streusel Mix: Mix together.
Mix first 6 ingredients together, will be quite stiff.

Grease and flour 2 bread pans. Pour 1/4 of cake mixture in each pan and sprinkle generously with sugar mix. Repeat this process ending with sugar mix on top. Take a knife and cut up and down to form swirls in batter. Bake 50-60 minutes at 350 degrees until they test done.

My girlfriends and I are making these (and others!) this weekend:

Doubletree Hotel's Cookies

3 dozen

Ingredients
3 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup rolled oat
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 1/2 cups butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
4 eggs
2 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon lemon juice
3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts

Directions

Preheat oven to 350*F.
In a medium bowl, combine flour, oats, baking soda, salt and cinnamon.
Set aside.
With an electric mixer, cream butter in large bowl.
Add both sugars and beat on medium for 2 minutes.
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Add lemon juice and vanilla; mix well.
Stir in flour mixture, mixing well.
Add chocolate chips and nuts and stir to just combine.
Drop by 1/4 cupfuls on non-stick baking pans, 2 to 3 inches apart.
Bake for 13 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned around the edges.
Cool; transfer to wire racks and cool completely.
Store in tightly sealed container.
