Glue.
The relationship between the two young men is more sexually ambivalent than out-and-out gay. I don't think that either character would categorise themselves as being queer. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0484039/ Chuck & Buck An emotionally-retarded thirty-something man stalks his former childhood crush. It'll make you laugh and cry - sometimes at the same time. The play which Buck stages is laugh-out-loud hilarious. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0200530/ Shelter It's uplifting and sweet. Some of the narrative is a little sloppy: A grandfather appears near the start of the film, never to be seen again and it took me a while to figure out who was who - but it's really enjoyable. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0942384/ The Boys In The Band Bitchy queens host a birthday party and spit searing one-liners at each other. I love it!!! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0065488/ [Edited 12/15/08 15:05pm]

The Crying Game To Wong Foo - Just to see John Leguizamo My Beautiful Launderette The Trip - was okay. I just loved one of the guys in it. I had a total crush on him. Urbania - was really great. It’s My Party - I cry like a little girl. Gregory Harrison, gorgeous. Bound - FUCK YES!!!!! Plata Quemada - HOT. Gangsters in love I haven't seen any of the other movies you mentioned, but these I have. I don't really care about the drag movies and I don't really like Pedro Almodovar's movies. I didn't like Burnt Money because we saw the leading man have sex with a woman, but not with his gay lover. [Edited 12/16/08 6:18am] FREE THE 29 MAY 1993 COME CONFIGURATION!

Here are some Gay films I know of. MAURICE with HUGH GRANT, My Own Private Idaho Keanu with River Phoenix, Boys In The Band, Priscella Queen Of The Desert, The White Party, Virgin Machine LESBIAN, Gay Themed would be CRUISIN AL PACINO as a LEATHERMAN COP, Too Wong FOO DRAG, PERFORMANCE MICK JAGGER in DRAG, OKOAGE or something close Japanese Gay Subtitles. John Waters Films and the one Tim Burton did that had Johnny Depp as the guy with the Angora Sweater Fetish, ORLANDO, The Music Lovers, and Andy Warhol TRASH, and JOE DELESANDRO, HEDWIG and the Curious Itch. That's all that I can think on at this time, but any Garbo,Deitrich, Joan Crawford, Bette Davis is good also.

Yeah, I don't mind a gay film having all that, as long as it isn't overflowing with stereotyping. I demand more; great acting, intelligent story.

noimageatall said: HamsterHuey said: I did not even watch that one cuz you can tell from a mile it got made for all the wrong reasons. And The Birdcage is just a weak remake. The French original was way better, as it portrayed cabaret honestly and not like the remake, filled with disco and bad moustaches. I wasn't going to watch it, but I ended up loving the story. There were some very dramatic scenes of domestic abuse and that creepy scene where four tough kids want to rape Chi Chi. Okay...it wasn't deep or anything, but I swear John Leguizamo never looked so damned beautiful as he did at the end of that movie. I don't find To Wong Fu funny either. But for what it is, I love it. Some surprisingly serious messages buried in a movie that was really just made for the laugh factor of having tough guys play girls. I only really have two objections to it: 1) They seem to confuse the definitions of drag queen just a bit, and 2) Chi Chi should have gotten the dude IMO. I agree, John makes a beautiful queen. Most gay movies are really, really awful. If they're not walking, talking stereotypes, they die horribly or commit suicide or go insane. More often than not, it's some combination of all of the above.
Maybe it's just me who likes it, but here's where my vote goes: It's silly, and it does hit you over the head a bit with the point it's trying to make, but I luffs it. Also, I know this will never be widely considered a gay movie, but IMO there's loads and loads (heh) of subtext that just can't be ignored: But I've been told I'm nto right, so...
