MY KITCHEN

I was shopping around on the IKEA website and found that I could download a program that lets me design my own room. I could enter exact measurements and everything. I've had problems with my kitchen because it's one-of-a-kind. It's literally something like 6 feet by 6 feet, with 9 foot ceilings.

I'm excited because with this program I was able to fill the space with all the cabinets, cupboards and sink that I want. It's only going to cost me around $1300. I already bought a tiny apartment stove and a refrigerator 2 weeks ago so I don't need those. Notice the refrigerator does not fit in the kitchen. It's really gonna look nice. I just wish the program was in color. The doors of the drawers and cupboards are either going to be brown/black or dark grey. I'm not sure yet.

What do you think?

I think you will have to jump real high to reach the upper cabinet... ok,I think its a beautiful use of a small space and I need to come see it for myself.

I need to use that program for my ugly ass kitchen. Will this work if my kitchen is not a square or rectangle? My kitchen has 6 walls.

Just make sure you get IKEA people to assemble and install it. I've seen IKEA furniture being assembled by others, and had to redo it, or tell them they can throw it away, since their attempt caused it to be unsafe.

It really is ridiculously small. My entire house is like 850 square feet. Tiny. Then again, it's just me here.

Good question. Go to their site. I think it's only 4 walls. But I'm not sure. I'll check.

I think, that if you need even more space, you could have some cabinets even higher, just for long time storage. A friend of mine has that too in his really high kitchen.

Indeed, you'd need stepladder to take things out, but it is really handy, so much storing space.

I agree, go up to the ceiling if you can, otherwise it's only good for catching dust up there!

My cabinets go up to the ceiling and yes, I have a step stool to use them and I do LOVE having the storage.

Looks like you're making the most of what you've got, Miguel!! Very exciting!

Heehee!! I've put a couple of things together myself. I think you and I are handy, some people just don't get it. It's probably in the genes or something.

The only thing is that because of the holiday season I don't have the entire $1300. I was thinking about buying piece by piece. I know it may be a mistake because they may not have the colors that match later. My kitchen may turn out to be PLAID.

that's true, if they have sourced different components from different countries you may end up with different finishes. Birch from China was not the same as birch from Czech Republic confused
