I do my own nails once a week. Short, shaped, no polish or clear. I'm a teacher of very young children, so it's a waste to put color on them during the year. Being a special educator requires that I do lots of reports and assessments, so I'm also constantly typing.

In the summer, one professional color manicure and pedicure and otherwise maintain at home...

I keep them fairly short, cuz they 'hurt' if I don't...not kidding either
But I've never had a professional manicure or pedicure...just do my own.

Meaning, I mean that I just clip 'em.
I do that only b'cuz I do my own balls too.
And I'm sure that I don't have to explain why well trimmed nails are always a wise move when doing one's own genitals.
And that's not just a smart safety tip.
Doing your own weebits should also be a way of giving a gift unto one's own self. A way of self-empowerment.
At least, that's what I was told.
And the person who told me this also suggested that another way that one could enhance one's own self love is by sending one's self a bouquet of flowers afterwards.

Never had it done. The smell would trigger my asthma.

There is also the moeny factor. I couldnt afford to go getting my nails done all the time and considering I clean houses after piggy tenants have moved out of them for a living it would be pretty freakin pointless

I actually have a nail technician license, but I only do nails part time because i work a full time job. As far as doing my own, I use to religiously wear acrylic on my nails in high school and in college, but now that i'm in graduate school, and living on my own, I tried to go back to wearing acrylic but find it to be annoying and I end up taking it off after two weeks. I guess I've grown out of acrylic. I now just prefer to have my nails polished naturally. That way I don't have to worry about fill-in's and I can change the color anytime I want. In fact, I'm going to find time to polish my nails today because i'm single, sexy an independent Diva. I can do anything I put my mind to. Oh yeah but I do go to get my peducures done at an upscale salon in my town....doing your own pedicure can be quite difficult.

I can't have long nails or wear polish at my job, so it's the perfect excuse to continue being the lazy ass that I am when it comes to my nails. I really want nice pretty nails, but I'm too lazy.

I've had manicure in the salon 3 times (different places and hated it every time. Those false nails (acrylics) give me the hebbi jebbi's, grinding down nails

My nails grow really quickly and I prefer to look after them myself, sometimes long, sometimes short, whatever shape I feel like. I must also have about 40 different colours of nail varnish.
