I watched the original last night on AMC. Hadn't seen it in a long time. I so wanted to see this and have it be miraculous. I guess that was too much to hope for. confused

Being a huge fan of the original and finding Keanu adorable I was anxious to see this movie. The special effects are better than the original of course, but the story line isn't nearly as good. I don't think fans of the original will be happy with the ending...I wasn't. Why they gotta screw up the most important part of the movie?

These days hollywood seems to think that the fancy cgi will make up for a weak script...it doesn't. You would still have to watch the original for a more detailed understanding of the story. The acting was decent given the fact that the cast didn't have much to work with.

That review is spot on. It starts out good, slows in the middle and loses the plot in the end. bawl

On the up side Keanu is still cute and Gort was cool as hell.

In the end I'd give it 3 stars...it was decent and watchable but nothing special.

Will Smith's boy was the best actor in that horrible movie. He did a great job.

The movie isn't worth saving. And, please tell me Kathy Bates has a better role lined up soon. doh!

The funniest thing about watching the trailer is watching it with my cousin. She and I do the robot dance everytime KEANU speaks.

....well....it's funny to us.

We would really be obnoxious watching in the theater together.

I DO want to see it though.

HEY DAN! Did you get to see the exclusive WOLVERINE trailer?

I'm supposed to see it this weekend.

Now I'm dreading it. I mean, they chose Keanu Reeves for the role of Klaato, which would normally make the movie a must miss, but his icy, cold, and almost desperate 'Kevin Costneresque' (Yes, I'm trying to coin a transient noun as a new phrase) underacting should actually work with this character.

Apparently, the critic didn't like the plot holes, and idiosyncrasies.

I still have hope.

After watching the remake of War of the worlds, I have no faith in this project.

Hollyweird fucking with Classics again? disbelief

They'll probably get away with this with folks that have never seen the original (or know it even exists).

There's only one Klaatu (Michael Rennie) & Gort...

I hate to tell you bro, but they even left out that classic line! It might not make sense but that pissed me off.

You're right though...they'll get away with it with younger, casual movie fans but older, sci-fi geeks like myself will not be amused.

On the special effects I have to give credit where it's due and they did update Gort nicely. That doesn't excuse the fact that the movie totally lost the meaning of Klaatu's reason for coming to earth.

Great pic btw,

Well, now I've seen it, and it was a little on the dull side. I mean, it turned out that I had already seen ALL the special effects in the trailer. confused

Will Smith's boy had a TERRIBLE hairdo. His parents must be SO embarrassed of him. razz

And we didn't see any PEOPLE get eaten by the nanites at the climax, which I found very anti-climactic. sigh

Oh, well. CLOVERFIELD is still the best movie of the year. biggrin

What about the Wolverine trailer? That's what they promised here on the WEST coast.

Star Trek trailer . . . .
I'll see it, but the trailer wasn't as good as Wolverine.

Saw the Wolverine trailer. MAY 1st.
Can't wait.

I like 'The Day The Earth Stood Still' a lot better than 'War of the Worlds'.
I thought Jaden Smith had way too much screen time. GORT needed more.
I enjoyed Kathy Bates. I've never been a Jennifer Connolly fan, she never does anything interesting in a movie . . . .
Keanu Reeves is . . . . Keanu Reeves.

I'm not a Hugh Jackman fan. Actually, for some reason he annoys me.
So I was kind of biased watching it.

It was like watching a trailer for a new Vin Diesel movie for me.
I think I'm just burned out on the Super hero genre going to film. Unsure.
