blindfolded reading

Today I witnessed an amazing thing. Let me explain.

A friend of mine is visiting from Malaysia and he brought his 8yo daughter. Now
he was telling me how she followed a course and there she learned how to read blindfolded.
I was laughing and he showed me a video on his blog (http://yuenslair.blogspot...ading.html)
where she is reading blindfolded. I am sceptical by nature so he offered
for her to give a demonstration. She put on her blindfold and I wrote down a
sentence. Lo and behold, the girl read the sentence without hesitation.
Afterwards I put on the blindfold myself, there's no way she was able to see
through it. I'm effin amazed.

Apparently there's stuff we will never understand.

I try to use discernment because reading and trying to find answers are not as easily apparent sometimes. Don't know if that makes sense.?.?

I slept my way through that book too. Can't remember a damn about the plot though!

Because it seems like a big waste of time acquiring a "skill" that is pretty much useless except for the mild entertainment factor it may have?

I guess if one is doing it just for fun and you have lots of spare time then...

Just my opinion.

lol it doesn't involve her performing in front of audiences. It is basically brain-training, something about activating the middle brain but I'm too stupid how that shit works. It should help her study better in the future by using a
part of the brain that others don't know how to use.

Anyway, I'll shut up.

geek

I just had my Human Anatomy final tonight. We just studied about the midbrain and it isn't good for shit. lol

It doesn't really have much of a function other than it's part of a larger group. I'll have to look it up. I'm curious now.

hmmm

It will come in handy if she ever gets trapped in the dark.

I agree that you can learn a lot from life experience or other things, but I don't agree that you don't learn from books. Reading is an amazing education tool.

So you DO agree that blindfolded reading has a purpose ?

When I say reading is a good education tool. I mean that the content of what you read can help you learn. I didn't necessarily mean the technique. I can't say for sure whether or not blindfolded reading has a purpose. At first glance it seems rather pointless, but I'd have to read more about it and do some research to make a 100% accurate opinion.
