there's no "one" best moment of the year, here's a list... lol

1. going on vacation to pebble beach, carmel & monterey with my husband and son!

2. obama elected our next president!!!

3. my mom and i talking again, trying to have some type of normal relationship, there's some slow progress and i'm happy to be able to be friends again.

4. my son's 4th birthday party (was so much fun!)

This has been an amazing year for me. AMAZING.

When I first started this year, I was planning on being single, free, and carefree the entire year.

Sure I've slept with my fair share of org women:

sweet
serious
Dancewme
Applekisses
Statuesque
brownsugar
Monigram
Jess
protoge
evenstar3
Tame
Mushanga
DevotedPuppy

to just name a few. NOTE: We all vowed not to reveal this fact, so you'll probably receive spirited denials from all of these women--even hostile rebuttals, but one can't stop the love we once shared if only for a fleeting moment. Just know that when they are slandering my name and denying that anything ever happened between us, that it was part of our agreement to deny, deny, deny.

So, yeah, the year was going to be a single man's paradise for me.

But then Carriempls and I decided to rev up our relationship, and we are now married.

The wedding was in secret, just the way she wanted, and in keeping with her style when hosting org invasions of late.

She brought her unique sense of style to the wedding (as you can see below).

Unfortunately, due to the job market and the fact that I just couldn't get along with her cat, we are current estranged, but I'm sure things will pick up for the both of us. Apparently, Carrie insists that her suitors are nice to that cat of hers.

Aw. This is a fun thread to read. smile

2008 was not the finest year of my life. I'm in the midst of a self-repair project, and it's not all that much fun.

But there were still some amazing highlights:

- Mayercraft with Supa. Great music, with one of my most favoritest people. Deeeeeply, eternally grateful for the experience. Richard: hug

- President Obama! I thought my heart would explode with joy that night. Screaming, crying, partying in the streets for hours, hugging strangers. . . being sprayed with champagne by Dan Savage. . .it was magical. mr.green

- Prop H8/marriage equality march. Sorry it was necessary, but damn, marching through my beautiful city with 10,000+ beautiful people, reading the funny signs, seeing all of the straight people turn out to march and cheer us on. . . it was really quite lovely.

- Kayaking by myself in the San Juans. Seeing porpoises, and purple starfish. Singing to myself out on the water. Not speaking to another human being for days. Pushing myself, and coming fairly close to dying, twice (1. Washington State Ferry, 2. Bear). lol It was good.

- Finally applying to medical school (hopefully next year's highlight will be STARTING med school pray ).

- Telling somebody who really deserves it that I love him, and finding out that he feels the same way. That actually happened today. boxed mushy

My friends and family all survived another year, I'm still managing to feed and house myself, I'm basically on-track. . . my soul still feels ragged, but, overall, I can't complain.

I've had many great moments this year, too. Strange to be able to have them, with the way things in the world are today. My best moment has been the moment I had a revelation about the difference between free trade and free speech, which I was able to do only through my studies. I knew on some level that these were different, but the revelation is that they are NOT inter-related. Civil liberties can happen regardless of how much money our government has. It's a long story, and I'll have to write it out some time, but that's my best moment of 2008, because of what it sparked in my mind - this was the beginning of my own personal revolution.

I had two really incredible moments that were highly memorable, I don't want to diminish the value by choosing which was *The* best.

My second week in Berlin. I loved it. I didn't want it to end. I had a beautiful time.

My time in Copenhagen early September was among the best moments too.

Actually the whole month and a half I was in Europe. I didn't want it to end.
