I achieved two career goals....became an equal opportunity advisor and got selected for promotion to Master Sergeant (8th of 9 enlisted ranks)...

Waking up in the recovery room in February and realizing that:
a) I woke up 
b) my doctors didn't remove what they said they were going to remove! 
Then... hearing that the biopsies were all negative!

The best part of 2008 would have to be getting the new position at my work. I was so close to being put in the looney bin and the change really helped out. Now the role is starting to change a bit and I might need that straight jacket yet but I'm sure I'll make it through once things settle in 2009. Shake it til ya make it  | |

First I really must admit that I'm really happy to have started actively orging more this year than lurking... I've made SO many new friends and acquaintances and I appreciate you all. Now, I just have to figure out how to meet you in person!! In February my family and I went to Hawaii... AWESOME! 
In July my wife celebrated her 30th, roasted a whole pig for that... AWESOME! 
In September my sister got married ('bout time) and we got decked out in our finest... AWESOME! 
In November we elected President Barack Obama... AWESOME!!!

Shoot. I'm glad you made this thread. Let's see: I moved (again) on 1/5 to a great little apartment.
Right around that time, a neighbor girl from my hometown named Courtney lost her long bout with a rare form of cancer. She was only 17. Her funeral (my first ever) was easily the worst day of my life. I'm constantly reminded by her incredible, wise outlook on life and how insane it is at how the least deserving individuals are plucked early from this place. The only good thing any us who miss her can take out of it are the proverbial cliche' life-appreciation mentions which I'll spare for now. My best friend's little brother and his new wife had a very premature baby in the spring, and in my utter hopelessness I created a thread begging for any hope you all could throw me. Your thoughts and prayers worked and she's a happy, healthy girl, despite being born at a little over a pound. Mid year, I finally took action on several health-related issues right in the nick of time. Progress is slow and the meds are hell, but things will look up with patience. I'm ending my second semester as a (finally) full-time student, and I'm loving it. It's a pathetically poor life, but a person can get used to almost anything. It will be worth it. I thank you for the thread as it reminds us all to kick a little ass in '09. Oh shit, my hat done fell off | |

Unfortunately, due to the job market and the fact that I just couldn't get along with her cat, we are current estranged, but I'm sure things will pick up for the both of us. Apparently, Carrie insists that her suitors are nice to that cat of hers.

for me it was...
1 my oldest son finally coming home... 2 being able to see my youngest son after sooo long... 3 seeing my foster daughter get her high school diploma 4 meeting someone in very late december,and realizing in january how much he honestly makes me smile... 5 finally having the nerve to post on the org..
