So what's been your experience with Facebook so far?

I like the concept of facebook but it's like a catch 22. Some people you love to hear from and others not so much. What's been your experience so far? Any crazy facebook stories? Have you been reunited with long lost friends, etc?

For me it's been more of a headache. I was hoping to keep my contacts to a minimum. I don't always have time to write back when people post on my wall. At one point I even tried to delete my account back facebook wouldn't allow me. It only allowed my to deactivate my account. It said that my friends would still be able to contact me. If that's the case what's the point of deactivating.

The thing is I have some really close friends on there. Obviously I'm always going to keep in touch with these people. I'm referring to the other 75 people on there that I could do with out. I only joined to but my closest friends on there. But you know how facebook is. It's like an old time chain letter. Often times you feel obligated to add friends of friends. So before you know it your facebook friends list is getting way out of control.

I had a friend in college that back in the day he had 2 friends, me and his cousin that were his roommates. Now if you go on his facebook page he has about 10 pages of friends. How did this shit happen? He must of sent a facebook envite to everyone in his company email directory. Some people crack me up. lol I think some people use facebook to just brag just to brag about all the shit they have and their make believe friends. lol

eh, so far so good. I've only been on it for a few months now. People from my past keep finding me and it totally weirded me out at first, but it's OK. I only add people I want to talk to now. smile

I need one of the those FACEBOOK FOR DUMMIES books. There are so many things to do on there. I get a little confused sometimes.

SO! If I don't answer you on Facebook don't take it personally.

It's a very cool concept, but I realize that most of the people I don't keep in touch with I don't really want to keep in touch with.

Also, my 20th high school reunion is coming up, and I feel like facebook may have taken some of the mystery away. Now I've seen what people look like, what they do, if they're married, have kids, etc.

I check it every day, but I don't really do all that much with it. I don't add the applications and I don't really facebook creep either.

But I love it for checking out what's going on in the city and seeing who else is going to an event.

back in the day I used to be caught up in the "myspace" and "facebook" craze, but the novelty gets old really fast. Haven't looked at either account in months. life in person is more interesting. If I haven't kept in touch with someone after all these years, there's a good reason why.

I like posting items and links.

Apparently I end up in my friend's mini feeds a lot and they enjoy them too.

A friend of mine had some sort of undescript "Facebook drama" and left. He told someone else I know the one thing he missed was my posts. mushy

I had another person try to add me this week that I didn't remember who they were, but had a couple mutual friends from the 80s/90s.

I just ignored them. shrug

I found my 2 best playmates on there from when I was little. We caught up, found out what we are all doing now, and after that they both just kept posting youtube clips on my wall and no personalised messages ever again sad so I deactivated, and so far nobody has contacted me since.

Facebook....

High school people I liked added me.
High school people I wanted to hit with smelly tunas added me.
1 ex boyfriend added me.
My international mate from Australia added me.
My Texan pal added me.
2 cousins added me.
1 stranger named Sean added me.
Quite a few Prince fans added me. biggrin
Some random dude from the adult swim message boards added me as well.

Then there's the applications and the quizzes. They're nice. Basically,I've had a good time. I've learned to ignore the stupid things I don't want and stuff the silly ones on the extra page flap.

that´s funny!

what about throwing friends out? Does that really work?
I´m going to have to do that sooner or later.

someone keeps inviting me to somehow meet his cyber character.
I see this person everyday in real life, so I think why bother?
I don´t meet him and then he feels snubbed. But to hell with it, if they can´t understand that I´ve better things to do than that then let them get offended. confused

Recently, I have been really liking Facebook a lot. I've come across old classmates from High School that I have not seen in some 20 years in some cases. I found an old crush I had. Found out she lives in Minneapolis now, and is still single. Too bad that's a good 5 hours away!

I'm probably one of the last people on earth who doesn't have it. If I wanna talk to my friends, no matter what country or time difference, we just call, email, or text each other. As for wanting to keep up with friends from my high school we have an office of alumnae affairs, an annual alumnae directory (with all living graduates dating back to the 1920's) and an alumnae events magazine for that. If I could find a way to use facebook for profesional purposes, I might consider it. But so far, I don't see how it could be a useful tool for me and I already have specialized hobby sites that I like instead. One one hand it sounds like a fun concept, but on the other hand if unchecked it seems like it could get creepy.

It is getting more fun lately cool ..
at first I was not really into it...and now a few more friends have found me and have shared messages...
then I began to add everybody I knew on there including ppl I work with they kindly excepted tho I be they are annoyed with me...some ppl have not accepted my request, and I am wondering if they prefer to not be a friend for personal reasons or cause they don't like me neutral

It´s tricky lol

people keep sending me invitations to play online games
but I´m really hesitant to share my details with online companies

Am I being too paranoid?

The thing is, I wouldn´t have confused that much time to play this crap anyway
I´ve got a 2 year old
The idea of playin´pc games does nothing for me
but the people might feel shunned

mmm... what to do?

i love everyone who may be guilty of this, really i do. it's not a personal dig.

BUT OH MY GOD I HAAAATE LIL' GREEN PATCH REQUESTS. mad stab flame dead

and that goes for the "lil' ocean bed patch" requests too, or whatever the hell they're called.

i don't even look to see who sends them to me any more. i just fly into a rage and stomp around my desk like donkey kong for a few seconds, cursing the world and everyone in it.

i guess it would just be easier if i denied the requests and went on with life. shrug
