Okay, now lets talk about pie

Last week I found out what mince pie was. My brother brought one home and we tried it.
He loved it. I mean, LOVED IT.
I felt it was some kind of sin against God, or at the very least, the pie god. It seemed like the contents of a trash can had been baked into a crust. I mean...turnips and orange peel? I'm an American...c'mon now. C'mon now. And I'm not even sure if there was meat in it, and I don't want to know, because it was probably chit'lins or something.

Okay, I had a point here somewhere...
What kind of pie's do you like? Have any for Thanks Giving? Any weird kinds you can throw at us (no pun intended) so we can try 'em out? Oh, and who here consider quiche pie? Because. damn. That shit is good.
Yes, I'm bored and hungry.

I love pie.

ALL of the above!! nod With a big scoop of vanilla ice cream on top!!

...Many Canadians put aged cheddar cheese on pies instead of ice cream. I've tried it, but the jury's still out. confused

I wish I had it. I always get it from my local pie shop here in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The closest I've come to making it myself was from an already made mix that I just had to add eggs to.

This is the recipe I found online. This sounds like it would come close to my pie shop's recipe.

Estimated Times:
Preparation - 15 min | Cooking - 55 min | Cooling Time - 15 min cooling | Yields - 8

Ingredients:

1 unbaked 9-inch (4-cup volume) deep-dish pie shell *
2 large eggs
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) butter, softened
1 cup (6 oz.) NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels
1 cup chopped nuts
Sweetened whipped cream or ice cream (optional)

Directions:
PREHEAT oven to 325° F.

BEAT eggs in large mixer bowl on high speed until foamy. Beat in flour, granulated sugar and brown sugar. Beat in butter. Stir in morsels and nuts. Spoon into pie shell.

BAKE for 55 to 60 minutes or until knife inserted halfway between edge and center comes out clean. Cool on wire rack. Serve warm with whipped cream, if desired.
Shake it til ya make it dancing jig

do you have any idea how hard it is to find a cheap bag of freshly minced jefferson davis? stab

seriously: it's a caramel custard pie with a layer of ground up raisins, dates and pecans at the bottom. it's dreamy. the recipe told me to make a bourbon flavored whipped cream to go with it, which i did, and that was a big failure. whiskey cool whip isn't too cool. ill

sweet potato
banana cream
chocolate cream
apple w/ the crumbly business
peach cobbler (close enough to a pie!)
pecan (like the flavor, too many nuts though & too sweet - just a slight smear of the gooey stuff w/ some crust would be amazing)
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart
