Die, Batman! Die!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/h...746417.stm

Uncertain future set for Batman

Batman fans are set to discover whether the Caped Crusader is going to be killed off in his latest comic issue.

Batman RIP will see "the end of Bruce Wayne as Batman", the comic's Scottish writer Grant Morrison has revealed to avid readers.

There are rumours Bruce Wayne may either retire from his duties or be killed by a mystery villain known as the Black Glove.

His fate will be revealed when the comic is published on 26 November.

Either way, Wayne's demise will lead to a hunt for a new replacement Batman to take on the cape.

"What I am doing is a fate worse than death - things that no one would expect to happen to these guys at all," Morrison said in the recent interview with Comic Book Resources.

He would not reveal who would be the new Batman, but the frontrunners include Tim Drake who has been Robin since 1991 and Dick Grayson - the original Boy Wonder - who now protects Gotham City as Nightwing.

It is not the first time a superhero has met an unfortunate end in the comic world.

Last year, Captain America was killed after being shot by a sniper in New York.

Superman's death in 1992 at the hands of Doomsday became the biggest selling Superman comic in history. He was later resurrected.

"Using science which we mere mortals cannot even understand, the Eradicator put Superman in a Kryptonian rejuvenation matrix that massaged him back to life," said DC Comics editor Mike Carlin, explaining the hero's return.

I like his spandex outfits. He's one kinky fellow. I can't wait to find out if the new series of movies is going to bring up Cat Woman and/or Robin.

I want a very sexy Robin. I want homo erotica back in the movies, damnit.

I give it a year, tops. He'll get thrown into the Lazarus Pit or maybe the Kryptonian rejuvenation matrix will work on him too.

this is such a scam. they would be rendering decades of cartoons, films, tv series, and a mountain of other crap MOOT if they screwed with the character this much. maybe robin will become batman for a few months, then bruce wayne will make some miraculous and inevitable return. comic book companies need to come up with new gimmicks. yawn

Best thing to do is not to buy the comics. I know I won't.

i tried reading some of batman r.i.p. and i couldn't even make sense of it. something about crazy batman in a red and yellow suit doing crack and talking to bat-mite, hell i don't know what i was reading but it reminded me too much of a typical bus ride home from work so i had to quit reading it.
