Do You Think Entertainers Should Inflence Their Fans On RELIGION?

Such is the Case with PRINCE TOM CRUISE and MADONNA? Personally, I just would like to hear them sing/act and not hear about Madonna's POLITICS or Prince giving out Watchtowers or Tom Cruise with Anti-Depressants.

I think Tom Cruise crossed a line with Brooke Shields and the antidepressant thing. That is none of his damn business.

i think only the fan can make the decision to be influenced. an entertainer can be open about their religion or spirituality without actually "peddling" their beliefs, but a fan of that entertainer can be influenced just by that mention.

but i know what you mean. i think you're talking more about entertainers who are dogmatic about their beliefs and use their public figure status to hawk their religion of choice.

i think it's fine. what's the difference between tom cruise bragging about scientology on a talk show and a famous soul or country singer releasing a gospel album? why did some people think "last temptation of christ" was a great piece of filmmaking but "the passion of the christ" was creepy, borderline inappropriate hyperviolence? who decides what is art and what is dogma?

i think the pressure should be on the fan to be able to say "just because my favorite entertainer believes this doesn't necessarily mean it's the right faith for me." i think most people are able to do that.

I'm counting on it as a matter of fact.

I can not WAIT until some of the most devout fans in M&M stop posting on the org cause they're too busy going door to door recruiting witnesses.

Although I think religion is a bunch of hooey, I have no problem with celebrities talking about and/or advocating theirs. Firstly, it's something they're often asked about in interviews and, secondly, if you're stupid enough to base your beliefs on something that Prince or Tom Cruise said, frankly you deserve everything you get.

But it's scary that people do that, even if they may deserve it.

Well, of course I don't literally mean that they "deserve" any misfortune that befalls them, but - yes - it is scary.

Then again, I find the vast majority of the public's behavior scary in general, so perhaps I am not the best one to ask. lol

Anyone that allows themselves to be influenced is a much bigger douchebag than the star prattling on about what they believe.
Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.

They can try, but that fan shouldn't convert because of their idol,
but only because of their sincerity to what they believe is right.

It isn't that they can't declare where they stand...
I just don't like it when they think they can use
their status to shove it down my throat.

But then I guess if they did, that would be my choice.

I think it was in the movie Get Smart where they were going to bomb Hollywood and someone asked about the stars, the villian replied "yes, what would we do without celebrities' valuable political insights?" lol

I see nothing wrong with an entertainer becoming influential in other areas, but only if they have clout. Why do I care what Tom Cruise thinks, except as a guidance for what to avoid thinking myself?

But when Prince was able to mix spirituality & sexuality it had an influence on me. It didn't make me christian, but it changed my view of religion a little.
