I've seen a few eyeballs come out of their sockets We went to Outback the other night and got some crappy service....granted, I could tell that the girl wasn't too experienced, but dayum, she sucked....I got the soup that came with my entree BEFORE my appetizer...and my wife's steak was overcooked...still, when the bill came, I stayed pretty close to 20%...mostly because the girl was putting up with some obnoxious Army guys sitting across from our table....so much so that I had to get up and put them in check... .my wife is STILL giving me shit about it.... He was like a cock who thought the sun had risen to hear him crow.

I TOTALLY appreciate all your comments, it's been really amazing to see the variety of responses. I do need to clarify a few things. First, I have dough and I can totally afford to go and eat whatever I want (C'mere Llama, I've heard you're yummy!). This particular day I had no cash on hand and only my now loaded card. Normally I automatically leave 15% UNLESS the service was bullshit. Wait Staff gets 20% if they're friendly and keep the coffee/ wine/ water flowing, sometimes all I need is a friendly attitude.
I just think it's highly inappropriate to follow me to my car and bitch me out about not leaving a tip. He lost a $40-$50 dollar per month customer over a $2.70 tip.  A working class Hero is something to be ~ Lennon |

the problem is how can restaurants in the US justify paying beneath minimum wage, talk about not making sense. In the UK they usually add a service charge on the bill, which is money for the restaurants waiting staff. a tip in the UK therefore represents an extra reward for good services. but in this case the guy is the owner, he gets paid either way, so he is a major fool, a half hour lunch, gets $18 for two dishes, he should be laughing at the sound of his cash register ringing. fuck him are you ready for submission
