Well. Lust is the desire to fuck somebody, and love is much more complicated than that.

I really like Helen Fisher's books on the biology/evolution of love. She talks about the connection between lust/infatuation and love/relationships. She's theorizing, but it's interesting.

...whereas love is centering your freaky-styley, closing out the outside world, and investing yourself in that one person...

the danger in lust, IMHO, is when the one you lust with loves what you did to them so much that their lust becomes love....often unrequitted...which eventually leads to poor rabbits being boiled and cars being keyed....

Put it this way--if you're with someone for a long time and suddenly their special parts no longer work but you're still around for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and the snack, it's love.

if you're with someone for so long and the sex puts you on hold and suddenly they look um...not so fresh, that's lust. You've enjoyed your time but the ride is over.

The difference between has to do with how long you are in limerance. Limerance is how two people feel when they're been hit by Cupid, where they flutter around each other like two butterflies.
