Have you ever been mugged?

Was it hard to get over? were you traumatized afterward?

my son was jumped by 3 guys walking home from collage, he tried to fight them off & yelled & finally one lady started screaming at them & they ran away..son has some bad gravel burns/cuts/bruises..etc
the cop that drove him home acted like this was no big deal & it "just happens" mad they probably will never catch them (no good descriptions)

anywho..son is really depressed & i assured him it could haVe been alot worse.

its kind of sad when you cant even walk down a main street at 1pm . sad

that is horrible
one day you think you're safe, and the next you doubt your safety and right to walk wherever you want.

no it hasn't happened to me, but many of my in-laws relatives in Argentina have been mugged at knifepoint, its kind of a part of life - people are desperate over there.

I was in Bratislava last week and thought I was being mugged by 3 men.I punched one of them (i was pretty drunk) and ended up get punched to the ground and stamped and jumped upon.
The next thing i awoke in a jail cell.

It turned out it was the police and I had allegedly broken one of their noses.
I spent 3 days in a cell and got a £150 fine.
Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

Just keep giving him words of encouragement until his nerves settle.

No, thankfully I've never been mugged.
But the couple of times that I've been in car accidents, I've been a nervous wreck for days afterwards...barely wanting to drive.

being mugged is like being glared at, typically you mug someone when you want to fight them. i am sorry about what happen to your son. i am a believer in karma, and i am positive they will get theirs.

well i am not sure if this is considered as being mugged. i was walking from junior high once, and a group of ruffians attacked me out of nowhere.. i got punched in different areas, they jumped around like crazed monkey's. i heard someone in the distance screamed "leave him alone!!" i ran like straight into the nearest store, a kfc. i ordered a soda, the lady saw what happen outside and did not even offer to call the cops. i never told my mother what happen thought. the weirdest thing was they did not steal anything from me. so it was pretty random.

The first time I got mugged, it was broad daylight and I was walking home from the store....got robbed of a little over a dollar....I was 13...

second time, me and a friend were walking from visiting our respective girlfriends.....it was the first time I had a gun pointed at my head...again, got robbed for a bit over a dollar...

the last time, I had a double-barrel shotgun pointed at me for 10 bucks...

..each time, I was glad that I was able to walk away...so just comfort him and reassure him....he'll be fine once he gets past it...

I was jumped by 3 high school guys when I was in 7th grade. They took my bike.

Really dashes your confidence for awhile, but it comes slowly back.

I wish your son the best.

Yikes. omg With that pattern, I don't think you want to get mugged again.

I'm so sorry your son was assaulted!

Hopefully, in time, he will realize that his being alive was the best outcome to a horrible situation.

For real. Gangland just featured the Gotti Boys from New Orleans and I couldn't believe that New Orleans would release anyone that commited a crime in 60 days if they were not able to build a case and they would not prosecute even if they got evidence later. disbelief

Almost. Many moons ago, I walked out of a bar buzzed and a guy caught me unaware about to get in my car. It was cold as hell and I wasn't being very smart at all. He pushed a knife into my back, which didn't feel very knife-like. Maybe because I was wearing a heavy coat, or maybe because I was a bit more tipsy than I thought. Either way I told him that I couldn't give him my keys. In retrospect it was dumb. Today, I wouldn't test anyone like that. But ultimately, after asking and threatening a few more times he pushed me to the ground and ran off.

I wasn't traumatized by it or anything. I think, in part because I didn't think he'd actually do anything to me. Don't ask me why, it's just how I felt at the time.

i did. i got mugged for my shoes (lame).

a group followed me into an elevator (Melbourne central for you aussies) and hit the emergency stop button and ganged up on me (about 6 or 7 of them), i wasent hurt but they took my shoes and as they left the elevator a security guard was nearby i yelled at him to stop them.

he grabbed one, and 6 months later and one court case later i got my shoes back.

I was mugged at gunpoint once - some of the scariest minutes of my life...and yes, I was traumatized for quite a while. I hated going anywhere by myself.

falloff
That reminds me of that Sex In The City episode when Carrie get her Manolo shoes and Fendi baguette robbed.
Aw man, if someone tried to take my shoes, I might tried to fight back. I'm not trying to loose my shoes shake
I was never mugged, but I did have 3 attempts at my purse being snatched. Thankfully they never got it any of those times.

I definitely feel you on that...but for different reasons....I remember going back and forth with the guy....talking crap to him for trying to jack me for a dollar...then he put the gun to my head and uttered these unforgettable words in the most even tone he could muster..."its a holdup, don't make it a murder"....

safe to say that I shut the hell up at that point!! Still pisses me off that I came that close to moving on to another life over a damned dollar....

I told him there was no money in it..and it wasn't.. I had money in my pocket.. he went through the purse, saw no money.. dumped it all on the ground, ran away.... hey, I liked the purse lol.. plus I was young and silly to chase him back lol

I know. It's terrible. I was in college and leaving a friend's house and two punk teenagers came up to my girlfriend and I with a shotgun. While they were searching my friend for pagers, etc, I threw my wallet under a car in the driveway so I didn't have anything when they came back but my keys - and they wanted my car. Well, my uncle just gave me his super old jalopy and I wasn't about to give it to them so I told them we walked there and that they were house keys. Then one of them said "Plug the bitch, she's lying."
I really thought I was going to die.
