I've just had the most surreal experience - I've been chatting with Eddie Izzard on the telephone - does that count?
My cousin, who is a London cabby, just picked him up and told him I was a huge fan and asked him to speak with me which he did! We had a talk about his new show, which I saw a few weeks back, and about the subjects it covered like atheism, evolution and science. He asked where I was and I told him Brighton and he then said that his brother went to Sussex University. I also told him about my dad who, when he died 10 years ago at the age of 70, was a huge fan of his. This was quite something as he had a very old fashioned view of life and wouldn't give the time of day to anyone he saw as queer which at the time would have included Eddie Izzard - the fact that someone could wear women's dresses but still be straight hadn't entered my dad's consciousness until we made him watch Glorious and he suddenly got it. He really was a different person for the last eighteen months of his life and I was grateful to have the chance to thank Eddie for that. Wow - I can't believe what's just happened. He was so gracious Is there anybody else who has slightly mysterious bruises? | |
