My 4 year old has chicken pox

After dodging about 4 outbreaks at her nursery Faye has finally relented to the curse of the itchy spots!

She came home yesterday with a couple of spots on her arm but I thought they were insect bite marks, she woke up today with a small crop on her back and chest. Bless her, she has 2 on the end of her nose and 3 on her 'tuppence' (as we call it lol ) I hate to think what she's gonna look like in the morning - no doubt she'll be covered from head to toe

We've been told to keep her away from other people so I'm fully expecting cabin fever to set in some time around monday afternoon rolleyes

I just hope and pray that Elsa doesn't get it - she's only 4 months old
I'm not stopping. I haven't even taken my coat off

C'mon and dance while you, while you still have your cherry babe, cherry babe..

I've always found that it's best to let them get it young and get it over with, the chicken pox can be fatal to adults. the baby might get it but she'll be okay. smile

Aww..really young, pray for speedy recovery. I had the chicken pox at age 7 as well and remembered how it spread to pratically the entire 2nd grade class. The itchiness is what got to me. Ack! flashbacking back on it is making me itchy. lol If somehow you can get her not to scratch so much, that would help with eliminating possible scarring. Still ended up with a scar on the left side of my face, near the nose, but it's not bad. I also remember baking soda baths helped to calm the itchy feeling.

Awww, poor babies.... smile

I've been teaching for 2O years... I managed to survive a sister with chicken pox TWICE when we were kids, a Granny with shingles, and 11 years of teaching elementary school... I haven't gotten them yet! omfg

I guess it's better that your kids get them now & get them out of the way- I'm gonna suffer if they get me! disbelief

i never had chicken pox in my life until i was doing volunteer work in brazil. and it was so bad that i even had it on my eye-lids!!! i was so sick, and had trouble finding the right meds, etc....finally my boyfriend at the time got me what i needed, and i was better.

i hope your 4 year old will have a fast recovery, and that your baby doesn't get it. take care!

Awww, thanks guys! She's fine though - it's only a mild dose as she only has about 40 or so spots.

They were going round about 18 months ago and I had her mixing with all the poxy kids trying to ensure that she got it but she somehow managed to avoid them.

She's had a couple of bicarb of soda baths and has been duly daubed in calamine Aqueous ointment. We've managed to take her mind off the itching by writing a letter to santa today - she wants a Barbie Doll and dress, some playdoh and something for her baby sister, Elsa... I had a right game trying to talk her out of wanting a Nintendo DS!!! Not gonna happen baby! lol
