my dad is going to be released from the hospital this afternoon...he is doing well and is fully cognizant...the possibilty of this being stroke related has been ruled out... however, something very disturbing was discovered...barbituates were found in his urinalysis...understand, my dad is one of the most straight laced people on the planet...he's never even smoked a cigarette or cigar, so for there to be any drug in his system, other than those prescribed to him, came as quite a shock... basically the doctor said a combination of factors; his age, his diabetes and his daily medication, along with the barbituates in his system, caused a state of "temporary amnesia"...luckily-thankfully all that seems to have passed and the only things he cannot remember are the events of thanksgiving day.... now the question remains of how the barbituates got into his system....I'm not sure we're ever gonna know the answer... again, thanks everyone for your kind words...they are truly appreciated... Whoa..thats an interesting diagnosis...but i'm glad that things are working out for the better! I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Rood - I am so happy to hear that you're dad's feeling better and that it's nothing serious in the long term. I'd definately get his meds checked though. Love to you and yours mate I'm not stopping. Barbiturate False Positives Fiorinol, Donnatol, some sleeping pills, antiasthmatic preparations that contain phenobarbitol, Dilantin. Really glad to hear it wasn't a stroke, Jase

prayer sent. I feel for you, cuz I know what it's like to be worried about a father's condition. My dad had different circumstances - was an alcoholic and chronic smoker who developed emphysema, and managed to live seven years with it. My mom passed away (on 12.28 will be ten years ago), and when he found out, he just about went delirious. He couldn't live without her, and soon after, went into hospice.

You got 'em...
May the One who blessed our ancestors -- Patriarchs Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, Matriarchs Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel, and Leah -- bless and heal the one who is ill: May the Holy Blessed One overflow with compassion upon him, to restore him, to heal him, to strengthen him, to enliven him. The One will send him, speedily, a complete healing -- healing of the soul and healing of the body -- along with all the ill, among the people of Israel and all humankind, soon, speedily, without delay, and let us all say: Amen!
