When I'm sober? Not much. There are things I really like, but not much that I really can't keep from leaping into my face. I do find certain breakfast cereals to be oddly compelling. . . Cap'n Crunch. Cocoa Krispies. drool

When I'm stoned? Lord help me. I've learned to keep edamame around so that I have something healthy to eat. Otherwise. . . I've got a grocery store within walking distance, and it's bad news. Crunchy, starchy things: watch out! disbelief The fact that I haven't gained weight since I started smoking dope is a clear violation of the laws of physics.

Stuffing

Oh, yeah, stuffing. Gawd, I love stuffing. Learning to make bread has left me with a lot of weird, dense loaves that I had to find creative uses for. My favorite is apple-walnut-sage whole-wheat stuffing. NOM.

They're always served at some fancy shindig where you have to be all proper and only eat one or two.

Lately I've been baking it in winter squash, with a red-wine reduction sauce. It's kinda awesome.

As for me - fancy chocolate and fancy sweets/desserts. I can pass by a regular old candy bar or a little debbie no problem. I'm not even a fan of bakery items from the grocery store. But get me into a chocolatier's or a REAL bakery and look out, I'm done for, you're going to have to roll me home.

Option 1: get on an airplane. biggrin

Option 2: make it, it's easy!

Fry an onion and some garlic in a healthy pour of olive oil until translucent. Add a quart of veggie broth, bring to a boil. Add sage, salt, and black pepper to taste (I like LOTS of sage biggrin ). Boil for a couple of minutes. Pour off about a cup of the liquid, through a strainer, into a little saucepan. Set aside. Add a small loaf whole-wheat bread, a (honeycrisp!) apple, and a cup of walnuts, all chopped to desired level of chunkyness. Stir into the oniony brothy stuff. Turn off the heat, cover and let sit for a couple of minutes.

Cut a squash in half and remove the pulp/seeds, and put the halves on a baking sheet. Scoop some stuffing into each half. Put the rest of the stuffing into a baking dish if it didn't all fit in the squash. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Take off the foil and bake for another 15-ish.

While it's baking, mix your reserved, strained brothy stuff with two cups of red wine (not cooking-wine crap, real red wine). Simmer until about a cup of liquid remains. Drizzle over squash/stuffing just before serving.

Nom! Nom nom.
