I know we talk about this every year, but its always the same.

I hate the holidays. HATE is a strong word, but yes I really do. Depression sets in BIG TIME!!!

Its soo over rated. Thanksgiving? Oh thats just when everyone buys lots of booze and food and eats/drinks so much they are sick the next day. Black Friday is the worse, not to mention the only thing I see/hear are kids talking about gift and posting xmas lists. Does anyone remember or think about the true meaning of the
holidays? I told my kids not to expect gifts this xmas, but they just look at me and laugh.

It shouldnt be a surprise when they get NOTHING. I want them to respect
the true meaning of Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I don't begrudge other people enjoying them as long as they don't try to infringe on my misery.

I do love Black Friday as it is the biggest drinking day of the year for me and my friends. We have bars that open early for us, on site hair cuts, indoor golfing, and whatever else we dream up. All with the added perk of booze! We usually last about 14 hours, so all those shoppers that go 6 or 8 are pussies.

But I do reserve a special venom and will offer up a heartfelt "Fuck You" to any of those dipshits that wanna talk about a "war on Christmas". What a load of bullshit.

Saying its over rated and as far as dealing with the holdays, well id rather not.

I used to go all out on gifts for my family and the past few years we have only given small gifts to eachother and mostly bought gifts for the kids. Every year it seems that money gets tighter and tighter. I don't believe that Jesus was born on Christmas so I just celebrate family and the many ways God has blessed me throughout the year on that day. Thanksgiving is my favorite!! Looooove me some good food Turkey...stove top stuffing....mashed potatoes....green bean casserole....candied yams.....corn bread...warm apple pie and ice cream....

You can always recreate the holidaze in YOUR home with YOUR family to be what you desire it to be ...

We felt that there had to be much more meaning to celebrations then what society places on them ( $$ )

I dislike the tradtional ($) theme to holidaze - so

I TOOK them over in my home

I had suggested a Chris Cringle type of gift exchange.
NO one went for it.

Oh well.....

Count me in. I really dislike this time of year. Not for the holidays themselves, because I really feel -or hope strongly, at least -that the true meaning of those days is still in our collective unconscious somewhere, even if it is buried under ads for half price sales.

But the way people are at Christmas is revolting. Everyone's angry and stressed out because they're trying for the perfect Norman Rockwell Christmas and just can't bring themselves to admit what a supreme liar the painter really was. People force themselves to spend time with relatives they hate and don't even talk to the rest of the year because they think they have to because "it's Christmas". More and more rampant consumerism is taking the place of love, peace, hope, and joy. Stores put up their Christmas decorations before Halloween's even done, and pipe in that God-awful Christmas music as soon as they can. Does anyone even actually like those musical abortions we're forced to listen to every year?

Honestly, in terms of the seasonal celebrations, I have more respect for Jewish people and Muslims. As far as I can tell, they haven't yet allowed the same stupid, banal, over-commercialized crap to infect their holy days.

I have to be in the Christmas spirit. I have 10 performances of A Christmas Carol between 12/12 and 12/21 - and I am not cast as Scrooge.
