One of the most Disturbing, Gritty movies I have seen

I saw this movie in the video store not too long ago and it looked like a decent story. It is based on a book of the same title about the child abuse to torture of Sylvia Likens in 1966. I felt like I have just watched a murder in my own home. The acting was outstanding. I thought they were actually really doing this to this girl. Gertrude is the crazy Mommie Dearest type caretaker of the two children who was watching them for a friend, and turns into a demon who lashes out on the children and suspects the older sister is a prostitute and up to no good because she made a painting for one of the neighborhood kids.

If you can bare the scenes and plot I would highly recommend this film. It has a great theme about child abuse and shows that worst monsters in the world are humans themselves.

I think I might pass. Depictions of child abuse are usually more than I can stomach.

I once attempted reading "A Boy Called It" on a friend's recommendation. I didn't get very far before I had to give it back.

I read that book. It was very dark, I kept having to remind myself, that it wasn't made up. It was completely crazy what he went through.

That happened here in the San Francisco Bay area. I read all 3 books. I couldn't believe all that he went through and survived. I was in tears.
