On the contrary, Moulin Rouge got a 78% positive rating on rottentomatoes.com and eight Oscar nominations. Sounds like mostly positive reviews to me. Mostly positive is not all positive and 78% is 22% short of complete acceptance, so I'll say we're both right. I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

Lord of The Rings 1-3
Kill Bill Casablanca Clockwork Orange The Pianist Goodfellas Pirates of the Carribean that's a few that didn't do much for me, I might give some of them another try in the future though Has anyone tried unplugging the United States and plugging it back in?

No How do you figure? It's not like RH was meant to be some deep, cinematic masterpiece. It's supposed to be stupid and poorly acted. You ever go on the www.imdb.com message boards for the new version of Hairspray? Half the topics are people bitching and moaning about how bad the original was. Guess they missed the memo on John Waters. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

Kill Bill Casablanca Clockwork Orange The Pianist Goodfellas Pirates of the Carribean that's a few that didn't do much for me, I might give some of them another try in the future though Take Pirates off that list and those are all good movies. Not for everybody though. But they are also, with the exception of Casablanca and Pirates (kiddie BS) guy films. Clockwork Orange is the densest one of the group and watching it more than once is recommended but a lot of people never get there. The Pianist is good but pales next to Schindler's List. Lord of the Rings is the greatest movie trilogy ever made. The standard for any fantasy or science fiction. It helped tremendously that there was great source material. Kill Bill (1 & 2) - Tarantino's best work. I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

Guess they missed the memo on John Waters. ok...but lets look at this concept for a second....this is an interesting point to ruminate while consuming several rum n cokes ( I love me some Sailor Jerry Rum...)....ANYway...if a movie that was intentionally crap is good at what it intended to be, doesn't that make it a great movie by default? I agree with Meow in that I didn't look for RH to be anything more than mindless entertainment and it was that in SPADES...and I loved it all the more for entertaining me mindlessly (while inspiring me to throw toast at a movie screen to boot....)...so in my mind, great movie.... ...whereas a movie like Lord of the Rings, which aspired to be movie magic, is little more (TO ME!!!) than a very effective tonic if I'm feeling a bit of insomnia..... please...debate...as I pour more rum...gawd I love this stuff!!
