Is this one of those "self-actualization" deals?

I saw mixed reviews on Amazon for it. Looked interesting but I ordered something else instead.

I read The Purpose Driven Life a few years back along with a few other books of this type and I really don't see the point of them. Maybe I'm not recieving them or their message right or something.

I wish it was as easy as reading a book.

I guess the answers are right in front of us but we fail to see it???

shrug

I love these types of books though.

I can save you the time and money:

Your life doesn't have "a purpose" (just like mine! biggrin ). No one's does. To suggest that they do is to say that there's any rhyme or reason to the universe, which - of course - we have no way of knowing (and this Eckhart Tolle dude certainly doesn't).

I don't know it could very well be just that easy and I'm not seeing it. I've read these types of books for many many years but after reading TPDL I stopped them and have refused to read them since.(nothing to do with that particular book or anything)

Have you ever tried meditation? This worked radically for me.

no, not formally so to speak. I haven't read or taken a class or anything. I did do yoga for a time, I don't know if that would count or not.

I tried it one time, and only because someone was leading an exercise, and found that it was something I was able to easily do and I never did it before because I didn't feel like I would know how. Now I use it as a way to visualize and see my truth which is a very powerful tool in realizing who I am and what I'm meant to be nod

I'll definitely look into it, see if there are classes or something in my area. Thanks

The good thing about it is that you can really do this all by yourself. I only tried it the one time with other people and with instruction, now I can command it when I need and want it without anybody else's involvement smile

What sign are you?

if that's the case then I could pick up a instructional dvd on it and do it at home. that would be great because I do need something

That tends to be my take as well.

But you can choose to give your life purpose, for yourself. Nothing wrong with having goals. My guess is the book’s about figuring out what you want yours to be.

It's not that hard to get along with people who we have significant disagreements with when we actually respect one another and our right to differ. Eh?

Would be nice if this were applied on a more global scale. But as it is, I don't think anybody is going to accuse either of us of having a homogenous group of friends. wink

Sure, for yourself. But I don't really like this idea that there's some Purpose, waiting out there to be Discovered, if only you can find (pay) somebody to help you Figure Out What It Is. We can make whatever we want of our lives. It's not some externally determined thing that we have to go out and find, as far as I can tell. shrug
