What makes Macs so not prone to viruses? Is it because stupid machead hackers only create viruses for PCs? 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Fer fuck's sake. I own a mac. I love my mac. But as I mentioned there's some software that I need to run for business reasons. And I'm didn't want to run Windows on Mac to do it. But yeah--I love my mac Windows Parallells is pretty awesome, i have to say. Christian Zombie Vampires

I'd have to say their archetecture is a lot more stable than PC's which run WINDOWS on top of DOS. I think it's windows that is vunerable. I do think that PC's are attacked more because many many business' use Windows. Christian Zombie Vampires

I've heard people who know about this stuff say that the Mac OS is just more secure. I'm not a big enough nerd to claim that. I do know that people who write viruses want them to spread as far and fast as possible, and PCs are more common, so that's a better way to go. "What's 'non-sequitur' mean? Do I look it up in a Fag-to-English dictionary?"

But yeah--I love my mac Windows Parallells is pretty awesome, i have to say. VMWare Fusion is waaay better and CrossOver (a Wine-based app for the Mac) was given away for free by the company a few weeks ago. It allows you to run Wintel apps natively on a Mac. For whatever it's worth. If it's only for MS Project, use OpenProj. It's compatible AND it's free. On a PC, use a FREE antivirus program (AVG, allthough they took some hits recently, and Antivir come to mind). Also download Secunia PSI, it takes an inventory of ALL applications installed on your PC and warns when things need to be upgraded. Mac security updates DO NOT include antivirus updates. If you need an antivirus for Mac, ClamXAV is a good choice. I run it only because most of my customers have a policy that 'any machine' that connects on their network has to have AV installed. Apple has to do something about their update policy though :-s They are very weak on that, especially compared to MS. Last but not least, most viruses no longer spread through MS flaws. Most of them are allowed to spread because people tend not to update trivial 3rd party apps. Adobe Reader and Adobe (former Macromedia) Flash have had huge holes announced in the past months. Update - Update - Update, if you want, Secunia PSI can be your best friend.

Norton claimed to have gotten rid of it but it kept popping up. I took Derwerde's advice and purchased and installed Kapersky. I had to remove Norton, but now I don't care. It's superior to Norton in every way My computer did NOT slow down, it found several tings Norton did not....and fucking Vundu has been removed permanently!!! Fuck Norton and fuck you too, Phil! . I don't get what the problem is. I've had my cheap, crappy Thai PC for over 6 years now and have never had a major problem with a virus. I have avast! anti-virus software and it just occasionally flags something, gives me my options and a recommended course of action and all's sorted.
It's free too. Slows the computer a little, but still, no problems in 6 years on this PC.
