Oh I love those!! I usually take all the seeds out,and put them in a bowl, and then eat them with a spoon, less messy that way. Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. ~Berthold Auerbach

So... if you're ever feeling Jewish-ish one day , as you enjoy your pomegranate, also enjoy 613 reminders of ways to live a full, charitable life... and that you gain a blessing with each! Mazal tov! awwww... that's an awesome story. and I'm totally interested in those kinds of things. Have you ever counted to find out if that's really how many there are? |

That's how I do it! But the seeds sink, the pith and papery things float. So you can scoop them off the top and then just drain the whole thing. YUM! |

[Edited 11/20/08 7:48am] The arils (the seed part you eat) look like corn kernels but have a hard seed inside. They pop in your mouth like a perfectly ripe grape and the juice is tart and sweet, kinda like a cranberry. |

They're not slimy at all! Do you like grapes? It's a similar texture. Only way juice-i-er. |

Natural chemicals in pomegranate juice may slow the growth of prostate cancer, according to scientists at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA).
The key pomegranate chemicals, called ellagitannins, are also found in foods including strawberries, raspberries, and muscadine grapes, noted Navindra Seeram, PhD, and colleagues. Their theory is that when someone drinks pomegranate juice, the juice releases ellagitannins, which get digested into chemicals called urolithins, which may fight prostate cancer.
