I need digital video help This is going to sound stupid, but I need some help. What is the best way to transfer video to a form that I can email to people?
I have an 8mm camcorder, and I transfered the video I wanted to a DVD. But that doesn't seem to be something I can email as a video. I get all kinds of folders and stuff, but nothing that seems to be THE video. Our digital camera takes videos, but the sound quality is absolutely horrible. And since I'm trying to email videos of band performances and rehearsals, I kind of need good sound. So, if I have to buy a digital video camera, what do I need? They sure seem expensive. Would one that records to digital tape work? What about the kind that records directly to DVD? Or do I have to get one that records directly to a hard drive? Surely this can't be that hard to figure out, considering there are about 10 trillion user-created videos on YouTube.

we have a Panasonic DV tape camcorder, which works great
we also have a HD/DVD recorder which we use to dump footage to DVD, that also works great - camera is hooked up to the recorder. To get footage off the tape and onto the computer I use iMovie. Camera is hooked up to the computer via USB or FireWire and footage is recorded by the software. You can choose the size and format of the finished clip.

Thanks for the great advice!
