If "your team wins" or "your team" loses...
Describe what happens both physically and emotionally. The Vikes are getting their ass takin to the bank right now... again. I start to feel depressed and think of all sorts of bad things in my life. When they win, I am giddy and optimistic... How about you?

If the Raiders win, I feel good until Tuesday...
If they lose, I feel let down...

When they win, I am giddy and optimistic... How about you? I really don't get that emotionally high or low THIS season, because I don't have a grasp on my team's talent level. Anything great is unexpected and gravy. LAST season, although the Steelers only lost 3 games, for some reason it didn't surprise me they lost to NE in the playoffs. But I do generally have my emotions invested in the situation if I feel strongly that my team has a chance to win the big one. I haven't had that feeling (for my football team) since Terry Bradshaw retired. Maybe they'll suprise me sooner or later. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

You must be the person I got into the debate with about how the Steelers weren't going to be all that good. I'm talking like 6 months ago. . Their offense has performed just fine, and even better when Bettis isn't on the field, ironically. It's their defense that seems to be a little suspect NOW. Uncharacterstic for a Steeler team. yada, yada, yada... [This message was edited Sun Nov 24 13:26:29 PST 2002 by Supernova] This post not for the wimp contingent. If my team loses, then I feel the same as ever as my team is shit.
If my team wins, I faint at the shock of them doing something good. Needless to say, I don't faint much. [This message was edited Sun Nov 24 13:23:33 PST 2002 by npgsmfc] _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_

They sorta came back, but still lost by 7 points, lol...I suppose this year isn't so bad, as I lost all my expectations! I've never gotten into Fantasy Football, but I could understand that helping...but if both do bad... ay yai yai... LMAO

depressed and miserable. Here's a hug for your pain. I know the feeling, trust me. I have been a Vikings fan since moving here... and if any franchise knows how to let their home state down, it's the Vikes... :choke: They just suck now.

I'm particularly used to having my teams lose, particularly in big games. Consider my favorite teams in basketball: Portland, Utah, Seattle, Philadelphia, Phoenix. Although all of these teams have made the finals in the past 10 years, none have won. Let's look at football: Buffalo, Tennessee, Seattle. Buffalo has the notorious 4 consecutive Super Bowl loss menace on its back, and Tennessee lost by one foot in the 2000 Super Bowl. It extends to hockey, college basketball and figure skating as well. Needless to say, I've become accustomed to disappointment.
The way I handle individual losses depends on the loss. If my team doesn't deserve to win, I usually just get disappointed by my team's performance. If my team loses a close one, I feel a vast emptiness in my stomach. If my team blows a lead or deserved to win, I become enraged. I think the worst loss I've had to take was the Blazers/Lakers Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals in 2000. Portland blew a 15-point lead in the 4th quarter. I became hysterical with anger. I intermittently screamed, cried, and stomped around outside. When my team wins, I feel a pleasant satisfaction. I'm still waiting for one of my favorite teams to be the champion in any sport. I guess what is wrong with me personally is that I care about sports too much. My teams' performances usually have a larger bearing on my emotions than they should. If my team loses, I feel not only that I lost, but that I am a loser. It's a bad character trait that I know I need to change.

This weekend was typical for me as far as sports.
Portland lost by one point to Sacramento. Seattle blew a 16-point lead to Dallas. Tennessee just lost by one point to Baltimore, despite nearly doubling their total yardage. Buffalo got spanked by the Jets.

And when things go "wrong" (a team loses), frequently the emotional fans go nuts and start beating people up, rioting, looting, etc. Just a minority of them are really that way--yes. But then often the rest of the "normal" fans get caught up in it, too, and do things that are out of control. People are too weird about their sports teams...

No kidding. When the Badgers(?) came to MN and beat the Gophers, their fans jumped onto the field and completely tore down the goal posts! IRON posts! :O Now those people are spooky.

St. Louie lost. Now there will definitely be a QB controversy there, since Warner was the only QB at the helm of their losses.
Baring a comeback, Green Bay will lose again if they don't overcome a 14 point deficit in the next 3 minutes. 4 INT's for Favre. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.
