Depends. If he doesn't like it, he can fuck off. If he is allergic, I might be considering finding a new home for them, but only to adoptive owners that can give them as much attention and love as I can.
Dexter is looking at me right THIS moment and I gotta go over and cuddle him now.

I don't have dogs any more but I would never give them up for anyone. I pretty much share Herman's views.

Heh, as there is just ONE person that I know that has the love in her heart to take care of my rather odd kitties, it means everyone can just sod off and love them or be gone. [grin]

I asked this last month because a friend is going thru this...
If it's not a matter of health, I don't have a pet right now, but I don't think I could do it. "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"

Hell no! I have always had cats and dogs in my life since the day I was born. They have always been considered part of my family. I could never get rid of one for a significant other. Luckily, I have never been asked to do it. I always gravitate towards animal lovers. My mom has given up her pets for a man and I think it is something that will always make her feel bad inside.
Her husband lied to her when they first got married. She had a Sharpei when they met. He never liked the dog, was never a dog person. She had skin allergies that were causing my mom stress but she was willing to care for her a she needed. My step dad said he found a women with a farm to give her to. My mom agreed to let him give her to this lady in hopes that the dog would be happier on the farm and away from him being mean to her. My mom found out from my step dad eight years later that there was never a women with a farm, he had her put to sleep. I could never, ever trust a man that did that and kept the lie for that long.

For me it would depend. Whoever makes a worse mess on the carpet would probably be out.

Maybe. Only because my cat has been pissing on the carpet lately, so I'm about to kill her anyway. "What's 'non-sequitur' mean? Do I look it up in a Fag-to-English dictionary?"

I did.
My mother in law is severely allergic to cats, and we are basically the only family she has (Chris is an only child). When we moved here, we made the difficult decision to ask a friend to keep our kitty. The Normal Whores Club

If it was someone I was gonna marry, I would. I would make sure he goes to a good home though.

well, married changes things... in that event then yes, I would. but for a more casual relationship, I don't think I would, not unless it got pretty serious later down the track. AND I wouldn't do it if I got an ultimatum "me or the dog" only if he was allergic or even after trying to get along, they don't or something.

I'd like to think that if I'd had a pet when I met Mon that we would've disposed of it together.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
no, i would not.
and if i was about to marry someone and they wanted me to give up my animals i still wouldn't. i would find it strange that someone who is ready to spend the rest of their life with me would all of a sudden want me to get rid of my animal.
