I just thought of this, because I happened to see it in this last set of pictures...

For those of you that are into Serial Killers, "Death Scenes", is a must have for your collection! It is a collection of crime scene photographs of the death scenes of serial killers... I had to pass by the pages of children. They were too much to look at.

Actually, it is just a book of pictures of death scenes... not necessarily serial killers... many suicides and standard murders... but it is wonderfully morbid.

Shelves after shelves of some really intelligent books (excluding the ... for dummies) in which you might get an idea of what really matters to be some sort of sane, happy person, and you still don't get that it is much more rewarding to pursue "things that you would prefer doing" but hey let's not because you really need all that material crap.

Who wants to bet that Ice got his bookshelf prepared specially for these photos biggrin

The only reason I ask is that there's a lot of highbrow stuff on there. Where's your moronic paperbacks that you are too ashamed to show off! Admit it, we all have em.

I dunno, I'm suspicious about people who keep stuff like "The Complete Works of Shakespeare" on their bookshelf as if they read it every day biggrin Do you leave "cool" books open on your coffee table too for people to spot when they visit you... biggrin biggrin Just joking...

Actually some of your texts on neural science would be interesting to me since I've spent a lot of time developing AI systems and modelling neural behaviour at a very simple level. I'm a bit of an AI nerd.

I'm always spending money on books (especially hardcover) and then kicking myself because it usually take be about two days to devour it. duh

I can't get my kids to read s***. When I was pregnant with my first child, I actually read a book a day for 5 months. These were not skinny books either.

I didn't realize how may I'd read until I had to pack them all up to move.

I don't want to speak for Tony here, but did you ever stop to think that sometimes you choose to take a job that pays better, over a job that you would prefer, in order to support yourself and your child, and that it really has nothing to do with being able to afford all that "material crap"?

No real preparation there... smile

There are a few paperbacks up there at the top of one of the shelves, but I don't read any "popular" literature other than Stephen King or Clive Barker type stuff... I have "Hannibal" up there somewhere in paperback. There are also a number of Stephen King paperbacks too... biggrin

The Shakespeare book was purchased for something like $20 or something and I only bought it because you sometimes need to look stuff up. I can't get with reading Shakespeare and find him boring, but you have to have it... just in case you need it.

biggrin

Yes Azurestar, i agree that you should prioritize support for your child (i have two myself), but IMHO it is possible to do this AND have a job that you prefer.
I even think that by choosing a lesser paid job which makes you happier, will be benificial for your childs personality.
(apologies for the maybe too strong 'material crap')

Oh, I would seriously prefer other lines of work... I am actually trying to figure out how to get back to school to get my PhD now... that is what I want to do, but it will require some serious lifestyle changes.

We will see...

Don't they say that for the average person it's pretty near impossible to read more than 3000 books in your lifetime even if u read a lot every single day?

Still, that's a lot of books. But the bottom line is u will certainly die having not read a lot of books u'd like to.

p.s. That's a fucking big "I Ching" u've got there. What on earth is in that because it's hardly a massive piece of work? Is it full of artwork and commentary and afterwords and stuff?

I'm hoping to get a copy for Xmas.
