"He died in a bizarre gardening accident."

"The police said, best leave it unsolved."

"I can do without the rock and roll, just as long as there's the sex and the drugs."

"It was a blues-jazz festival." "No it wasn't. It was a jazz-blues festival."

"If you're ever at the Holiday Inn at Topeka, be sure to catch Four Jacks and a Jill."

"St. Hubins was the patron saint of quality footwear."

"I got no timing, I got NO timing! You know what I want you to do? Kick my ass. Just go ahead, right here. Please kick my ass."

I place that at #3 in my most-watched movies list.

Number 2 is "Stripes".

Number 1 in a runaway is "Animal House".

I watched Stripes again recently for the first time in years. Since maybe even betamax! Not as good as I remember it, and not Murray's best. I'd rather watch Groundhog Day over and over again.

There surely can't be another film with so many quotable lines.

And then there's Stonehenge, the malfunctioning pod, getting lost on the way to the stage, the cucumber scene, Nigel having to get helped up on stage.....

And the songs, Break Like the Wind, Big Bottom, Sex Farm...

Pure class! biggrin

Hon, hands down, The best movie of all time...but how in the world can you forget the "Fredo you are my older brother, and I love you, but don't ever take sides against the family.....ever." scene????

WHEWwwww WEEEEE!!!! Have u ever paid attention to the cool demeanor of Michael Corleone in that scene???? The smoke from his cigarette even simmers down when he makes that statement to his brother. And he sitting in that chair with his legs crossed like nobody's business!!!!! drool can't nobody portray that man better than Al...he was perfect. I can watch that scene over and over again and still get the same sexy chill down my spine when I watch it. It just does it for me everytime.

And can we please not forget the way Michael was walking back to the house after Clemenza violently strangled Carlo in the car??? Whew child, it is AT THAT MOMENT THAT YOU KNOW NOT TO FUCK WITH MICHAEL!!
Another cool scene:
When Kay points towards the shot up & burnt up car & asks Tom Hagan what happened,
he responds "An accident. But nobody was hurt".
If you notice closely, you'll see a wry smile on his face.

OH YES nod I do know EXACTLY what you are talking!!!!

And the funniest scene ever is when Sonny is beating Carlo in the street...if you look closely, James Caan's fist never even touches Carlo's face. lol
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

The Godfather III

I was lucky in that I didn't see any of the Godfather movies til much later in life than most people. I didn't get the chance to watch 'em until sometime during my early college years. And the first one I saw was the third installment. So I got to see it without the comparison of it's 2 predecessors.
And, IMO, on it's own, it's a very good mobster movie. Obviously, it can't compare to the first two, but in the genre of mob-flicks, it kicks it's own particuler brand of mafia ass.
Plus, with it's redemption-themed, politically-charged corporation/Vatican storyline,
it's a pretty goddamn smart movie, too.
Now while I haven't watched it as much as 1 & 2, I still like it & I still find watching the whole series as a trilogy to be quite a fulfilling movie-viewing experience.
Now, if only Sofia Coppola would've gotten shot at the beginning of the film instead of the end, maybe this flick would get a little more respect.

My shortlist is weird. There are a few movies I enjoy SO thoroughly, I cannot zap away when they are on. It's not a list that says 'best movies of all time' to all, but it does to me. I love romantic comedies.

Amadeus.
Silence Of The Lambs.
Le Grand Blue.
Ever After.
The Iron Giant.
Groundhog Day.
Three Weddings And A Funeral.
Raise The Red Lantern.
Dangerous Liaisons.
A Beautiful Thing (singing along to Mamma Cas songs)
While You Were Sleeping.
American Beauty.

Titanic, Moulin Rouge, Iron Giant, Gummo, X-Men, Godfather(s), Citizen Kane, Purple Rain, Sign O' the Times, Truth Or Dare...

and a bunch of stuff when i was a kid. my brother and sister would get obsessed with movies and would watch them every day after school as if they were a syndicated TV series (Dumb & Dumber and Swiss Family Robinson, respectively, spring to mind).

Shit I forgot about that one, I watched that over and over when it came out, might go and stick it on now..

The majority of the films mentioned should be on m list for repeated watching apart from the Godfather Trilogy, can you believe I've not even seen them once!! I really must do something about that.
