Does It Bother You When Someone Who Knows You Calls You By The Wrong Name? I ask this question because I have, on several occasions, been called the wrong name by people who have known me for awhile. For instance, today I saw the lady who lives across the hall from me, and she called me "Susan". I looked at her and said, "Susan? My name is Nancy." This woman has lived across the hall from me for several years, so she SHOULD know my name by now.
There is another elderly lady, who for some reason, is convinced that my name is "Joyce". No matter how many times I correct her, and tell her my correct name, she still calls me "Joyce". Every time I see her, I know that she will again be calling me by the wrong name, and I will again be correcting her. I understand that sometimes people call you by the wrong name (human error), but when I'm being called the wrong name by people who have known me for awhile, or people who I have corrected on multiple occasions, I find myself feeling a bit annoyed. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

if i can tell the person is just plain tired and out of it, then it doesn't bother me.
if i feel like the person should know better and they're just not making the effort to learn my name, then they need to work it out. double if they constantly call me by some other name and then say "oh, sorry, you just remind me of someone i know with that name." WELL I'M NOT THEM, NOW AM I?!?

Yeah. There's this one fool that always calls me Jackie. I think that he's thinking of my last name (The first syllable of my last name is pronounced as Jack, when it's said the American way )And this other dude always calls me Jennifer I think he does it on purpose

When people call me the wrong name I pull names outta the air, ridiculous names and call them that to the people who can't get my name right.
For example, I have a next door neighbor named Nury. My name is Sandra, my daughter's name is Nia. She always calls me Cindy and calls Nia , Mia so I call her names like Lucy, Trudy, Noony, Boomy, Goony, and Dora. I never call her the same thing twice. I used to politely correct her for two years but now I just "go with the flow" and call her what ever name jumps in my head. I called her Dora this morning, and her husband was like

She also tends to call my brothers by the other brother's name. Your mom sounds like mine in that respect. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I have 3 girls: Andrea, Michelle and Kelly...when I am in a rush or multi-tasking, I always get their names wrong.
So to make my life easier, when I am calling all three at the same time, I just call them "sisters" "Sisters, get in the car" "Sisters, time for dinner" "Sisters, time to go to bed" They think it's funny.

Now I look forward to seeing her with a huge genuine smile on my face. "Hi LooLoo!" I always coped with laughter, stress no longer is a part of my life. Shit life is too short to allow people to urk you anyways, just "roll" with the punches and make the shitty things fun. Try it... it'll brighten your day.
