Sure. But there are people that think many things of themselves that are simply not true. You know, like some people think they are all smart and shit when they are clearly dumber than a post.

But do I really care?

No.

Neither is a person a real man if they think they have the right to dictate another person's gender.

It doesn't just narrow down to who has the vag and who has the willy, folks. It's never that simple.

Like I said, some of you really need to pick up some academic and medical research on the issue of gender indentity before you go shooting off your mouths about things you know nothing about.

It's not "my views", it's the reality of the situation. You're the one insisting that this man has to be called a woman because he's capable of carrying a child, and is.

Here's a question for you: Is his wife a "man", because she's not physically participating in their childrens' gestation? If, after all, you say this man is a woman because he's carrying, then by the same logic his wife isn't a woman because she's not.

I'm only talking about the woman who is giving birth, why are you bringing in her partner for. It's a lesbian couple thus it's 2 females. You are the one calling them males for. Your also stating that I'm "deciding" and "telling" people what to do, which you are wrong about. If she wants to call herself a man thats fine with me, but I don't have to call her a man.

I'm calling him a man because he says he is a man.

No one said you have to acknowledge this preson's reality. No one even said you have to be respectful about it. Which is a damned good thing, because you've done neither. But would it kill you not to display your ignorance?

Why the fuck is this even news?

It's like its some amazing feat or something. It's not.

It's not a pregnant man expecting a baby. It's a woman living as a man having a baby.

Big whoop.

I suppose you can say that this brings up the topic of gender rolls and identity but that's not even what's really being discussed in the media.

Shouldn't it be, though?

We can debate the appropriateness of this couple bringing such media attention upon themselves, but it doesn't change the fact that this has the potential for being an opportunity to educate people on the subject of gender roles and sexual and gender identity. As shown on this thread, some people are sorely in need of it.

They are not talking about gender identity though. They are simply stating that she is a biologically a woman.

I'm not sure why saying that is offensive. It is what it is.

Biology IS that simple.

Female/male aren't the same thing as woman/man.

This person is biologically female, not biologically a woman. There's quite a difference.

And who's fault is that? The media outlets for not trying harder, or the public that's said it's okay to feed us meaningless pap?

That's exactly it. We can respect a person's identity or understand psychology, but when people make a big deal out of a man being pregnant, it's not such a big deal when biologically it is actually a woman that is pregnant. lol Interesting to see a person with a beard who is pregnant, but not biologically amazing.

No, it's not semantics.

Female/male is the biological state of being. Woman/Man is a combination of social construct and brain structure. They're related concepts, but not the same thing.

Since transsexual people have in fact shown to have the brain structure of the sex they feel they should be rather than their biological sex, there's no reason to believe what's between their legs should override that. A vag or a dick is not the end-all, be-all of gender.

For someone who seems to get a kick out of calling other people arrogant, you sure display a hell of a lot of that feature yourself.

Yeah, I do know what people are saying on here. Certain people are saying that this is a woman, and insisting they know for a fact that nothing else can be true.
