I discovered something new about my Ipod! So I've been uploading my mixes to a hosting site and then downloading them on my brother's computer in order to transfer to my ipod. you can save something directly to your harddrive on the ipod. But doing so will not cause it to show up in your playlists. You can access the saved files by clicking My Computer on your PC and then selecting the ipod drive and then pulling the files from their into your itunes on a new playlist. And how do you know it has one!? Because it won't work? the iPod itself probably won't behave any differently, since, as you said, it doesn't have an operating system, but it's possible that a PC you plug it into will copy it from the iPod and continue copying it to other volumes subsequently plugged in to that PC. here's my scenario: the master has a laptop, he's a songwriter, he gives mp3s of songs to learn to the band, straight onto their iPods. One of them has given him a virus: tel.exe and AUTORUN.inf, which seem to have disabled the search function, so he couldn't seek out these files to delete them. Anyway, every memory stick he has used has these 2 files on them, invisible to him, but I got a mac, so I can see the viruses on the removeable drives, and just delete them. Every time his infected PC mounts one of those drives (iPods included) the virus is copied onto them. Fixing the iPods is apparently easy using the Restore function in disc utility on a mac or something, which probably wipes off all the music - don't do this without reading up on it!!
