* * * FAMILY TREE FOR XMAS * * *

So I was out surfin' the net and I found this really nice genealogy website. Thought I'd share it with the ORG. I decided to research my roots a bit and thought you'd like to do the same...

http://www.myheritage.com/

enjoy!

A big thing here in Europe of late. The BBC had a great program, tracking the roots of famous people. Even Jerry Springer, who had the most depressing episode of the series; his family had gone through so much hardship, it was gut wrenching to watch.

Anyways. I got my tree worked out already. It's way too long.

I'm stunned to see how big mine is getting and I've "only" got 33 members so far...

Whats really nice about this site is when you enter a family member they ask if you have an email for them and it's shoots them a note to see the tree and help build on it. Really cool!

I was working on my tree a few years ago and got back 6 generations for some relatives, but I haven't gone back any further than that.

I find it absorbing - I must get back to it.

Have you gone back far with your own tree?

My family tree gets muddy somewhere in 16something. It spreads to France, Germany and Portugal.

And yessss, I watch Dutch tele. But as most of ya'l aren't Dutch, I thought I would not bother you with it. But I do watch alotta BBC1 and 2. That's where it stops, really.
Except for the US and UK television series, which we just download.

Like, I saw this series announced for Dutch tele I never heard of; Eli Stone. Have you seen that?

It's got Jonny Lee Miller (hot) and in the preview he keeps seeing George Michael singing Faith. Except he's the only one that can. Even though that's REALLY ALly McBeal-ish, I kinda liked it anyways. I might hate it cuz it's got Katie Holmes and I hated her even before she married The Weirdo. But I wanna give it a chance cuz of Jonny. He's cute.

I'm going to have to call my Mom later, and get some info. I would really like to have someone perfessionally do this for me,cause I think it would be interesting to find out if I'm related to anyone that i did'nt even know about.

Do it! But half the fun is doing it yourself - it's interesting when you really get into it.

True, but it's also a little aggravating because the information is so scarce. I wish I would have thought to do it when my grandparents were still alive, they would have been able to give more information.

The information's all there in official records, although I only know about British ones. If all else fails, the Mormons usually have records on all of us hmm
