Could you walk by a bloodied man lying on the sidewalk?

Last 4th of July at around noon in the Holocaust Memorial at Fanueil Hall market Place, a man was murdered. His death remains unsolved because no one has come forward that has witnessed this crime. All those people in the most "touristy" part of Boston on a one of Boston's busiest and most celebrated city holiday, NO ONE saw this? eek disbelief

I can't imagine the pain Timothy Finch's family is still going through rose

*warning -news cast is a bit graphic

What would you do if you saw this? Would you walk away as quickly as possible or would you call the authorities for help?

We did see something similar, and no we didn't walk by, we helped him. Called an ambulance and reassured him.

I've pulled a few people out of ditches and gutters.

The last time, there was a woman lying in a ditch about 1/4 mile from the restaurant we had eaten at. I noticed her as we drove by, and turned around to help.

It was dark and she wasn't moving. I thought I was going to find a dead body, but luckily, she was just rip-roaring drunk. Her boyfriend had kicked her out of the car, and she made it about 100 yards before falling down into the ditch.

I called the cops, and gave them $50 to put her in a cab and get her home.

I ran away from a man being shot in fear of my own safety, but he was just lying there. I saw this on TV last night on a local news station, and I was shocked. They really are trying to find this man's killer.

I do not want to judge those who walked by his body but on the video you see a man walking past and I noticed the man walking didn't even glance or stop to see if he was OK.

Kudos to you LleeLlee and Rodeo Schro for helping someone in need like you did. We could use more people like you where I live. thumbs up!

I've called 911 more than once when I've witnessed or heard a crime and also when I saw a man so drunk he was staggering and fell down in the middle of the street. I'm not one to step in and get involved personally as I have my own safety to think about, but I've alerted people who CAN help in every situation I've encountered.

I've called 911 on plenty of occasions when I see people in trouble... I feel it's an obligation.

i can't even walk past a bird on the sidewalk. lots of times i find them stunned from a collision with buildings downtown so i pick them up and bring them inside with me until they're feeling better. if they don't recover i take them to the wildlife rehabilitation center for treatment.

a wounded man lying on the sidewalk would get likewise my attention. i would be cautious about approaching anyone in that situation, because first responder training makes a huge point about checking the situation out thoroughly before approaching someone who could be whacked out of their mind on meth, or in the middle of a fight, but if i couldn't provide assistance i would definitely call for help and make sure it arrived.

I think it depends. If the man was murdered in front of me, I would probably try and hide till the person who did it was gone. I think. If they were just laying there alone, I would try and help or call the cops.

How sad. sad

I don't know if it's city life but it doesn't surprise me at all that people just walked past a man lying on the ground. I would be afraid to intervene in the middle of an attack but in this situation I would totally not ignore him. Never.

I agree, I would never expect anyone under any circumstance to jeopardize their own safety, but just to step over someone like that or just walk my hurts my heart to see. It took a while before someone felt compelled to call 911. What kills me is that Fanueil Hall is always packed with people, its Boston's busiest square. I am amazed not one witness came forward yet, not one. neutral

Amazing still is that people would for whatever reason feel uncompelled to dial 3 numbers on their cell phone!

I'd call for help immediately (in a populated area, my safety shouldn't be a concern) and I'd hope my fellow man would do the same for me...this is disgusting.

That depends. If I was totally alone I may not directly approach, if I wasn't alone I would.

But either way, I would always, always call for help.

I couldn't watch the video, btw...just seeing the still shot of him on the ground has made me feel very nauseous. Very upsetting to see.

Maybe I should post a warning? It is pretty graphic, I cried when I saw this on the news last night. They just aired it still in search of answers. I hope someone comes forward soon to put that murderer away for good.

They're walking right past this man laying there. People can be so heartless sometimes.

That is what disturbed me so... this is why I felt compelled to post this video.
They walked by him like he was a rock on the sidewalk, if you look carefully you'll notice two women practically stepping over his body, never stopping. damn.

I had no luck activating the link but I have and would call the authorities in an emergency case like this. No hesitation whatsoever.
