My paternal grandparents were long dead by the time I was born. My maternal grandparents were "grandma" and "grandpa" before they passed. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

I only knew my dad's mom, and she's dead now. My Mom's mom is still alive, but I've never met her
I call both "Grammaw" when reffering to them. And I call my grandfathers "Grampaw" lol I nevr could get that "n" in there.

I keep it short and sweet for my grandma. She's gramma, granny, and on a good day, ma. (she raised me as one of her own after my own mother died.) When my grandfathers were alive, they were just grandpa or gramps.

When my son and daughter-in-law told me that they were expecting a baby I spent most of my time trying to think of a name that I'd like.
I started off thinking that GrrrandMaMa might be a suitable, dignified name which would automatically give me an air of the superior matriach BUT - now Millie and Daisy (yes - they had twins) are here, I'm just palin old Nan or Nanny - and I love it! Is there anybody else who has slightly mysterious bruises?

My grandparents are all deceased, but I use to call my Mom's Mom Granny, and her Dad,Grandpa. I wasn't really close to my Dad's parents so I don't know if I called them anything.
I think "granny" is a Scottish thing
Not sure, but my Granny was German. Because of this long-standing nickname, her headstone reads Dorothy "Granny" Haugan
We decided when my grandmother passed away to included "Granny" on her tombstone. So her headstone read Laverne "Granny" Allen. [Edited 11/12/08 16:48pm] Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. ~Berthold Auerbach

None of mine are alive but I still remember them and talk about them. I was only close to one of them. She is my Mom-Mom Tweed(her sir name), even though she is my great grandmother. She raised my dad and he calls her mom.
My grandparents on my mom's side were Mom-Mom and Pop-Pop Greigg.

mormor and farmor, I never had any grandpas (which would have been morfar and farfar)
my kids have: abuela and abuelo, and momo and fofa (Oscar's version of mormor and morfar, so cute all 4 grandkids call them that )

I think I called my Indian grandparents mummagee and bubbagee but I only met them once, when I was around 10 and we went to India for a trip.
I called my maternal grandparents "nanny" and "grandad". They are all dead now

While my Mom's mom was alive, I called her MaMA'(the emphasis on the second syllable). I never met my mom's Dad. He died b4 I was born, when my Ma was 16.
I had met my MaMA' a hand full of times. All I really remember is she had ALL her faculties but NO teeth...lol. I remember she gave me some change to go get some candy for myself when I was like 4. So me and my bro went to the store at the corner and I got some Now & Laters. Since my MaMA' gave me the change for them, I wanted to share them with her, but was worrier it might pull her last 3 teeth out. So I asked my Ma if I could offer her one and she said yes. I said but ma...won't it pull her teeth out?. She said no it wont. So I gave her one and stupid me didn't reliaze she could suck on it.....DUH!!!! My Dad's parents we simple Grandma and Grandpa. Pronounced more like gramma and grampa. My Granmpa is dead now, but I don't miss him cuz I think about him everyday. We were kinda close. My Grandma is another story. She's all zombied out in some nursing home. I see go see her from time to time. But it's hard...u know. We were never really close like me and my grampa. They had seperated when I was younger so I kind of developed different relationships with them. They were'nt like "a pair"...u know?... sorry for the news article...lol

My Opa and Oma mentioned above have both passed but are very much still in my life. It's almost as if they're still around. I imagine that's probably weird for most.
My grandmother on my mom's side turns 95 this Saturday. We're having a big bash. Oh shit, my hat done fell off

He was like a cock who thought the sun had risen to hear him crow.
