I've never understood the big deal about wearing shoes in the house UNLESS you lie, sleep, and eat on the floor like some cultures do. Sure, I take off MY shoes when I come home, cuz who the hell walks around in four inch heels at home? But if someone is just visiting for a few hours, expecting or asking them to take off their shoes seems kinda rude. I mean what if their feet smell or they have holey socks or ugly toes that they're embarassed about. Maybe they weren't expecting to have to take their shoes off.

OK, now this I agree with 100%. I expect my guests will do whatever they feel most comfortable with. I wouldn't insist on anything. But in the winter it's only polite to remove whatever's on your feet if they're wet or snowy. |

Yea, a "shoe house" induction can be painful the first time But once they know, they know

I do everything on the floor, is why it bothers me. Why I bothered to get furniture I'll never know, because I sit on the floor to eat, watch tv, do homework, everything. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

I have concrete floors so I'm not sitting on the floor no time soon. But I think it's unsightly when I go to someone's house for Christmas or for a party and there are 20 pairs of shoes piled up at their front door. It's not exactly a welcome sight.

Yeah, it doesn't look all that nice. Perhaps shoes can be stuck in a spare room or closet? "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

One year, I went to my exes sister's house for Xmas dinner and there were literally a couple dozen shoes at the door. Not to mention, I don't want to look at a bunch of stank ass bare feet and men's feet in socks while I try to consume Christmas dinner. I'd rather clean the carpet the next day.

I always have something on my feet. usually it's slippers but I rarely walk around the house without something on even if it's just socks.

Why? Tile through out the house, tile is cold, no one else removes their shoes, they bring in a lot of dirt these floors aren't the cleanest, I don't want dirty feet. If I lived alone and I had more carpet maybe I'd go barefoot more Rhythm floods my heart♥The melody it feeds my soul

you have to if you wear shoes in the house. otherwise your feet will be dirty picking up the dirt on the floor that came from the dirt wiped of everyones shoes. thats the rules. wear them all the time or dont wear them at all. [Edited 11/11/08 14:26pm]

I solved that problem by investing in the coziest, comfiest pair of moccasins I could find. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"
