Does anyone else get this....

Every now and again, well too often if you ask me, I get a shocking pain/sensation up the side of my neck.
It goes up back behind my ear into my head. It feels like an electrical shock and it happens every few mins.

It does not matter what I am doing but mainly happens when I am sitting or standing.

It is driving me freaking insane today. I took a hot shower, I have gone for a few long walks, took a pain pill.
Next I am hitting the bottle!

pissed
Someone please make it stop. It really irritates me and I cannot find a way to make it stop.

Thanks. As you were.

I think a doctor would be far more able and equipped to answer that type of problem.

Do you have high blood pressure?
Do you wear headbands?

I used to wear the stretchy kind in my teens? I had the same pain. And the headbands were the problem

I went a few years ago when it started and even consulted a chiropractor. They both just said it was a nerve problem. They said it is probably due to a car accident and my scoliosis that I have had since a child.
Nothing they can do.

I am just desperate. It brings me to tears, it feels like I am being tortured.

Maybe someone has a voodoo doll on me.

I get those now and again but it's more a muscle spasm... I was in an accident too...

Go see a Chiropractor but the kind that uses the "activator method" instead of the guy that tortures you (back wrenching...) It's worked for me and now I go in for maintenance about every 6 months or so. In the beginning it was 2 time a week!

oh, and bong rips help too... lol

Do you ever do yoga? That's the best thing for getting rid of tension, fixing posture, and improving circulation.

Well I thought that maybe someone else experiences this and has some suggestions on making it stop.
I have not been to the dr since I moved to the UK. I will just do what I normally do and try to get through it and do some neck stretches.
It is probably my body telling me that my power walks are not enough at my old age.

I had that after an accident, too. It eventually went away after a month or two. Mine was a nerve issue as well.

I used to do Yoga a lot along with Pilate's. Now I just walk miles a day with the dog.
I know I need to get back to my yoga...this is a sign.

I do get neck pains, but not like you're describing. I get them from tension--looking the same direction for too long, bad posture, etc. Stretching is the best thing for me.

Like the old look from side to side tilt the head side to side, rotate gently, but the whole time extending the muscles, not crunching them.

walking's great, obviously, but doesn't do much for your neck.

Actually, sometimes my neck hurts after I go jogging, I don't know why.

It is probably due to the backpack I take on our walk. I was having shoulder issues but it was a muscle thing.

yes, definitely!

I think sometimes when i jog I look down, too. That could put strain on a neck.

The worst pain for me has actually come from sitting on a bar stool, looking in one direction for too long.

It could be a combo of the backpack and looking down at the pooch. Luckily he heals really well and hardly ever pulls.
