Birmingham's Population As I remember Birmingham Alabama had population of 500,00 about 3 years ago. I look now and it's at 1 million. Was there an amazing super spike in the population in the last 3 years or was it always 1 million? Working up a purple sweat. | |

I grew up Birmingham Alabama. Hoover to be exact.
it had 250,000 in the early 90s. I doubt the city has more than 300,000. They must be talking about all the satellite cities combined. The city has not expanded massively compared to the likes of Atlanta. Hell, it's growth rate didn't even match Huntsville Alabama's growth rate. Are they talking about the surrounding area too (Alabaster, Bessemer, Cahaba Heights, etc. etc.) ? | |
