He was 12 years old.

They walked up to the house (father, 3 sons). All were shot, but everyone else had non-life threatening injuries.

The boy was died in the hospital.

Their mother waited in the car and thought she heard fireworks.

the company I used to work for was based out of Sumter, it's a pretty small community...as selfish as this sounds, I hope none of my former coworkers are directly affected by this...so terrible...

Sumter, SC is like 30 miles out of my hometown of Columbia.
For it to be a small town it is one of the most crime ridden towns
in South Carolina. Drugs are real bad there.

I read about this, so fucking SAD The guy had to be high - he shot through his front door w/ an AK47. 'THE FUCK???

I read about this yesterday and I don't understand why this happen, it's senseless. This guy didn't fire one, two or even a few shots. he emptied an entire fucking clip in a AK-47 through the front door...he didn't look to see first, he just started shooting.

This seriously upsets me.

According to the story on CNN today, the shooter thought the boy was a burgular....guy was an ex-con in possession of an automatic rifle....truly sad...

my ex was from sumter, i hated visiting that place...everybody was so jumpy and shit..his mother used to cross the street when she saw anyone other than a white person walking towards her...the people there used to stare at my older son...i mean, JUST STAND THERE AND STARE at him......

My in-laws still live in Sumter. We visit them frequently (about 2 and 1/2 hours from where we live). Their next door neighbor has a cannon in his front yard which he shoots every New Year's Eve, and flies a confederate flag year round.

Sumter is a very poor town, right next to Shaw Air Force Base. Drugs are rampant there. We never go out when we visit the in-laws.

What a terrible tragedy. I feel so bad for that family.

How sad! My heart goes out to the family.

That's horrible.

Not only did that kids' siblings lose a brother, but now Halloween is probably ruined for them.
