We try to make up a budget and a list and stick to them. I try to make up a menu and shop that so that we don't have a lot of food hanging around and no idea what to do with it. When I make a menu and shop for that, I bulk cook and freeze leftovers in convenient single serving sized containers. It's healthier and cheaper. We also barter with local farmers for things like eggs and produce which I preserve at home by freezing and canning.
In the last month we've shopped: Goodwill Publix Angel Food Ministrues locally owned gas station locally owned Mexican restaurant locally owned pharmacy farmer's market local crafters (soap being the main purchase) There may have been some other stop-offs that aren't immediately coming to mind, but it's usually pretty rare that I can't get what I need at any of these places or by bartering or from other locally owned businesses. If the economy is counting on me to stimulate it, it's barking up the way wrong tree. I'm cheap and low maintenance. Murica: at least it's not Sudan.

Oh! Oh! I did shop LL Bean for some good boots. I ride a motorcycle year round and need something warm and weatherproof. I tried hard to find exactly what I needed locally and didn't. Murica: at least it's not Sudan.

I've had to reign in my spending this year, which is a good thing on a monthly basis I really only consistently do TJ's & Safeway... I need to do Costco more so I can save overall

Cause I talk so much shit about going 'green' and America's greed, and "we're so spoiled" Then when the spotlight is shown on me, I realize, I just need to Well, I don't believe it's my job to dictate or judge what others choose to purchase by my standards/beliefs. And I don't think that it's necessarily "greedy" to want certain things if that's what you want, enjoy, and can afford. I like what I like, you like what you like, and there's no need to be apologetic for it either way. To each his own. Besides, having things don't define me and I don't place things above people. Yes Americans, in general, are spoiled but what's the alternative? It is what it is. Shit, I was born in a third-world country and I count my blessings EVERY day that I live in the USA, land of opportunity, good or bad.
