wow....some people are soooo judgemental.
perhaps some folx consider sex and all things involved...PRIVATE and are not used to speaking about it in front of anyone. So when in a situation where talk of it becomes public, it can be embarrassing, so people laugh or giggle..so what?
especially with an older generation...I mean it seem common sense to figure that out.

I WAS MAKING A JOKE, YOU TWIT, MAYBE A TACKY ONE, BUT A JOKE NONETHELESS! ! !

Honestly? I wouldn't ask a random sales person a question about lube. If I had questions about lube I'd research it online and/or talk to a trusted friend or two. When I've been in toy stores in the past and have been approached asking if I have any questions or whatever, I politely say no thanks and go about my browsing.
And if I'm with a friend and I see a bizarre-ly huge or otherwise out of the ordinary dildo, I'm gonna laugh.

I think it's okay to laugh (maybe not to laugh at someone buying it, that would be rude). But sex is a little insane, the way humans engage in it. If someone wants a ball gag and leather zip up facemask, fine, but it's not exactly something you see on the nature channel.

It's funny what people are into. If they love feet, fine, but I'm still going to laugh at foot fetish videos. They have crazy sex harnesses that I don't even have room for in my apartment, wedges that prop your ass into the perfect position. That's awesome, but who buys these things and where do they keep them?

Meow makes a good point about people not needing to feel embarrassed in a sex store, but it's also important to realize that people ARE embarrassed, and to be sensitive of that fact if you work at a sex shop. Some will express it differently, through silence, downcast eyes, or laughter. Trying to stop that would be damn near impossible.

nod

Regardless of what an employee might think of some customers' sex awkwardness, they absolutely MUST be compassionate and polite, and know when to back off if the customer's body language indicates discomfort. At the store I worked, any employee that wasn't skilled like this was fired with the quickness. We had one girl who only lasted 4 hours on the job because she laughed at a guy for stammering as he was asking about magazines. That was a big no-no. no no no!

Why not? It's what they're there for.

Because I generally prefer not to talk to people I don't know. About all manner of subjects, but again, sex is a private thing for me.

To be fair, I don't really ask questions of sales associates in any store, unless I absolutely have to.

Fair enough. If you rarely talk to store workers no matter what the business, that makes sense.

she means OLD people, come on meow just say it wink

To be fair, one of the most comfortable and open-minded customers was a woman in her 80's. Though, she was a call girl when she was young, so that probably contirbuted to her comfort with sex.

She explained to me once that one of her regulars fell in love with her and proposed. She gave up the business, and 50 years later were still married. She said she and her husband liked to "make whoopie" at least 4 times a week, and were always open to new ideas. Cool lady. thumbs up!

OMG!!! falloff @ your Nana. giggle I can see your point. I heard that line in HS about if you're mature enough to have sex you have to be mature enough to talk about it. So, I am with my partner. I don't know what to tell you. lol

Yeah, I had to leave the room to laugh. Nana just couldn't understand why I'd done a spit-take at what she'd said.

I agree fully that HS line. How can you engage in sex if you can't talk about it? Can you imagine if people reacted the same way about other aspects of life? Like eating? If, say, grown men would eat steak in private but when asked about dinner would blush and giggle and refer to it as Making Num Num?
