Where would we be without Power(In The Dark) ? So this morning we lost power around 10 am and I was at a loss as what 2 do.No tv,no microwave or stove,no internet can't surf the web. And worst of all no heat.
So I was like damn we are so use 2 power and what goes with it. Made me think of how it must of been back in the good ole days. I had 2 heat dinner on a propane stove,so that was cool. But other than that I had no clue what 2 do. Well I grapped a few blankets and my baby "Anna Stesia" and cuddled up with a good book. Now we have power so life is back 2 normal 4 now,but damn it's amazing how dependent we as a people are when it comes 2 dependency on power ! Oh and when I went 2 the bathroom,I treid 2 flip on the light switch [Edited 10/28/08 21:39pm] PEACE.....It does not mean 2 be in a place where there is no noise, trouble,or hardwork. It means 2 be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart !

I do that to every time we lose power I think about how dependent we are on it and what it must have been like before it was in most homes.
A lot of work is what it was like I'm firmly planted in denial

when the city (was without for seven days) lost power after the hurricane, I did all the cleaning around the house that I'd put off forever. Once I finished all those then I read. the experience reinforced my stance of not being so dependent on electrical stuff. everybody use to tease me because I would complain about everything being so automated, now they see what I was complaining about, especially those folks how have all electrical items in their house.

It would SUCK ASS, but I can hang....our power used to get cut off on the regular when I was a kid....and when times was tough as a young adult (living in an apartment above and beyond my means)....but now that I'm a bit more solvent, all I can think about is sitting on the couch, in the dark, with the DirecTV remote pointed pointlessly at the flatscreen..... He was like a cock who thought the sun had risen to hear him crow.

If you'd have a power out during the evening/night and in a relationship; you'd by f:*:cking your brains out.
Last power out here in Holland produced 24 babies 9 months later.

Wouldnt it be terrible if we ran out of power and had to light candles and read books?

Actually, I had to light candles to read books by. One winter, my electric bill was so high due to electric baseboard heating and then I couldn't afford to pay them on time. So the electric got cut off. In the summer, I had no airconditioning and no fan. Used wet wash cloths around my neck to help me cool off. In winter used the gas cook stove for heat. I literally lived in the kitchen. I used candles and battery powered lantern to see. Was not much fun at all. But I survived. Oh yeah, since I couldn't keep anything cold, I ate lots of soups and boxed foods. No matter your age, pursue your dreams so that you will LIVE.

Oh yeah, since I couldn't keep anything cold, I ate lots of soups and boxed foods. Believe me I know how that goes. When we were little and my father left alot of times my mother couldnt afford to pay the electric bill so we used to light alot of candles and eat alot of either foods that didnt need to be cooked or tinned stuff. Mum got a kerosene heater from someone and we used that for heat and to try and warm up water and a couple of times the neighbour let us run an extension cord from her house to ours so we could heat up water for bath etc. I think the longest we went without was a month. I don't know if we ever thought it wasnt fun. Mostly just inconvenient PRINCE IS WATCHING U " When an Artist Creates, whatever they create belongs to society"

How would we be "up the creek" if there was no water????? many people found out how not long ago, most of the utilities like the water department have become automated. Many of the counties water department here is regulated by an electronic system so when the power goes out the water goes off. folks went weeks without water and power.

many years ago the local electric company discovered an old bill in my name,
that someone else used as i had no prior service, and tacked it on to my current bill at the time, it left me unable to pay it and i called and asked them to split it up,but all they would do is split it in half..still couldn't pay it on time...my electric was out for 2 months, while i paid it off and saved for a $200.00 deposit all overagain...thanks TECO.some of it was funny, every once in a while i tried to turn a light on... 'why y'all trying to say goodbye? I didn't go anywhere, I'm right here, im all around you,always..'

During a blizzard in 2003 we were without power for about 3 days. We made oatmeal and scrambled eggs on the gas grill outside and play a lot of charades. Peace. Love. Prince
