Transferring Ipod content onto Itunes

Age old question but I have had to get my computer fixed and I was wondering if there is a way to transfer my Ipod content back onto Itunes on my computer. I'm not too keen on downloading anything for it but if need be I will. Can anyone help?! Thanks.

As soon as you hook up your iPod...assuming iTunes is already set up on your computer, it will sync your iPod and it will ask you if you want to transfer the information from your iPod....answer yes and there you go...

Hmm, does it really? I just assumed it just syncs itself to the content on the Itunes you have on your computer?

I'm pretty sure you'll have to use a downloaded program.

If you're running a mac you can probably get a script at http://dougscripts.com/itunes/

The scripts on that site are tiny files which instruct itunes to do various things. There should be one to pull songs off your ipod into itunes. They're dead quick and easy to install.

Apple deliberately makes it hard to get songs off your ipod to deter illegal file sharing.

If it doesn't have or recognize the content on your iPod it will ask you if you want to transfer it to your iTunes.... nod

This is true IF the songs on the iPod were not purchased through iTunes, I believe.

I could be wrong.

If it doesn't autosync like Ken suggests, there's a menu option under the top "Itunes" menu to copy from the Ipod to iTunes--but again, only for purchased songs through Itunes I think.

Was your iPod not recognizable to the computer? I other words, doesn't show up on iTunes?

If that's the case you have to reset the iPod. You do that by holding down the middle button and the top menu button at the same time for a few seconds (intructions on the Internet)

As far as JD's issue, he has to buy third party software to copy the music not purchased from iTunes down to iTunes.
Not sure why, as iTunes now sells non-protected mp3s now, and I wouldn't know how they'd know the difference between those and your own rips.

Use Senuti.

There are free programs online that can do that for you. Don't ask me what they are though...I just know my brother did it for me once.
