Amazing cast (Judy Parfitt, Alun Armstrong and Matthew Macfadyen), great sets, wonderful storytelling; what's not to love?

I'm with you on this. Nothing better when the night's start drawing in than to sit down and watch a Dickens drama unfold. I thought both Judy Parfitt and Alun Armstrong were very strong in this opening episode.

I loved it too ... I love the BBC's annual Dickens story.

And Cranford - did you see that? I'm watching the repeats at the moment on Sunday and woe betide anyone who interrupts it for me!

Not too happy about the scheduling on BBC1. Episode 2 is on Thursday at 8.30pm and Episode 3 is on the following Wednesday at 8pm. What are they playing at?

Oh yes - whenever a period drama comes on it's a must for me. At the moment I'm living for the repeats of Cranford on Sundays - I just love that. Larkrise to Candleford I thought was good, but not as good as Cranford.
