The only time her crying didn't hit me like nails on a chalkboard was when she was beaten to a pulp, laying on her couch and Arlene asked her if Bill was going to be okay. THAT bit of crying actually looked authentic. I agree with this all. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

Yes!!! ...I still have DEXTER..... I'm all messed up, too. For the last 24 hours, I've felt like I forgot to do something really important. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

Hope you enjoy the show! For me it's been fun to watch!! I just watched the first 4 tonight. I gotta say it had me from the first episode I'm not over the moon about it like everyone else, but I'll definitely keep up w/ it & most likely watch it next season Alan Ball has such an interesting brain! I'm still trying to figure out why someone described Lafayette to me as "spooky" I expected him to be a vampire but he's not, so what's so spooky about him?

Her face is kinda goofy, I'm surprised @ how much better she looks as a blonde (& surely w/ a kickass makeup team) She's really hard to take in The 25th Hour & Hurlyburly... The thing is I don't remember her from the 25 hour. I couldn't keep my eyes off Rosario. Now that you mentioned it, I have to watch the movie again and look for her.

There are only like 6 black people in Bon Temps: 1. Lafayette 2. Tara's mom 3. The fake voodoo lady 4. The black vampiress 5. The black female cop who arrested Tara 6. Eggs A lot of people is hoping it's not Lafayette, I hope it's Tara's mom b/c even though she's trash on tv, her acting skills are way beyond any of the actors on there. The fake voodoo lady should be in that car too b/c she did Tara and her mom wrong. If it was the black vampriress, she would have been a bubbling mess. If it was the black female cop who arrested Tara, I just don't see the point of why she was killed or even in the show. I know it isn't Eggs b/c I think he's a pigment of MaryAnne's imagination that is playing with Tara's mind. [Edited 12/1/08 8:13am] Sorry, but there would only be a pool of blood ... as this show goes anyway.

I think Lafayette as "spooky" is fascinating... and I can sorta see where someone might get it. That brotha is a force of nature: He's a total queen, even dabbles in cross dressing, yet he could out-thug and beat down any mortal in Bon Temps. He calls women "bitches" and "hookers" without batting an eye, but they seem to LOVE him! He flirts with straight men without thinking twice. He talks disparagingly about white people, even beating them up at the slightest provocation, but then he has sex not only with white people, but white men. Rich ones! Some are even dead! And he even makes them pay for it... with money and even their very blood! Then, of course, on top of being all those things, he's an exhibitionist drug dealer! Lafayette should be COSMICALLY offensive on many levels -- and yet he commands respect... and even likability. That's scary as hell! [Edited 12/3/08 17:59pm] Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

I'm trying to figure out why his cousin kinda bugs me. I think it's the accent combined w/ the harness of her character, I wish she pulled off the accent better or something. I can't pinpoint exactly what it is...

I can't pinpoint exactly what it is... I had to get used to Tara also. If you're lucky, you might come across the original pilot episode online. It stars actress Brooke Kerr as Tara, but the role was recast after 2 episodes (and those first two episodes re-shot) with the current Rutina Wesley. Brook Kerr.. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

I love Tara! She´s hilarious. Sure, she can be bitter but
also has a sweet, softer side . Her mother is to blame for her difficult character, I think, lol.

He's complex enough to be a real person and he is just fierce.
